This is the thing that gets me. It's not just that she can't decide, and vaccilates between the two possibly based on the vibe she gets from her chat. It's that she's so fucking astonished that people are even capable of a level of self-reflection that tells them whether they're happy or not.

It's such a basic thing, being able to read your own feelings. But I'm forgetting all the times when she's said, "I'm so tired, you guys. Actually, I'm wide awake!" Her capacity for self-reflection is so non-existent, she can't even work out how she feels physically, let alone emotionally.

When she says something like, "Yeah, I'm feeling better. Actually I'm not feeling better," I think this is more what you're talking about--an attempt to portray herself whatever way will get her the most sympathy. Her knee-jerk reaction is to answer honestly, and it's only after the words are out of her mouth that she realizes that the opposite will make her look better/more vulnerable/more innocent, whatever. How her chat doesn't recognize this habitual and blatant self-contradiction is beyond me.

I'm not going to defend Chins here, but I don't think there's a huge correlation between being a sex offender and looking like one in the really real world, unless you're looking at someone's mugshot. No one ever really knows another person, and by his age, it's possible he's gotten pretty good at hiding that creepy vibe. Paired with her obliviousness, it's unsurprising she didn't know.

As has already been said, she depended on him so heavily that even if she suspected something, she probably didn't want to know. Ignorance, bliss, etc.

Chinny does go through bouts of mild paranoid where she assumes everyone is creepy and out to get her, but a lot of that is probably for the benefit of her audience. Besides, I think she operates (and for good reason) under the mistaken impression that she is invincible, and bad things can't and won't happen to her. And if they do, she seems to just shrug it off--like she's done with so many things, including KJ. So why even bother anticipating trouble or worrying about what might happen? She's gonna be just fine no matter what.

Keep in mind that this is a guy whose [ETA: possible, not yet proven] father is a violent, pedophilic sex offender. In 1995 (when Joe was 17, and in his second sophomore year), the state unsuccessfully tried to get Joe Sr. designated a "sexually violent person." In late 1998 (just after KJ had graduated high school), he was tried and convicted for 1st degree sexual assault of a child. And this, along with his 1991 conviction, is just the shit he was tried and convicted for.

Was Joe Sr. ever arrested and accused of any sex crimes that ended up getting dropped, and never prosecuted? Because it seems odd that the state would wait four years after his first conviction to get him designated a "sexually violent person." Something must have prompted that, but it wasn't another set of charges filed.

I cannot imagine Joe Sr. was any less violent toward his son, especially as Joe Jr. neared adulthood; men like that get more vicious toward their sons as they grow up until the son physically fights back and wins. KJ may be a genuine sped, but there's also the likelihood that he was experiencing violence (including, perhaps, sexual abuse) at home (assuming his parents were still married), and was simply too shut down to function. And if his dad's status as a chomo came out in 1995 and became common knowledge, KJ probably would have caught a lot of shit for it at school.

He's a garbage human, but he had even worse garbage for a father, and thus a garbage upbringing. That may have reached its peak intensity in his teenage years, and would explain why he went into such a noticeable decline during high school. Something terrible happened to him.

I just want to point out we don't have any confirmation that the other Joe Wendt is his father. There is a Twitter user who says our Joe's parents are Richard and Jacqueline. We can verify the Jacqueline.

I've been half-heartedly looking for confirmation/or other information to get his father's name, but no dice so far.

She is proud of shitty looking nails with decals you can barely even see? And even teen girls can do light draping and a tapestry/wall hanging better. Tell me you don't give a shit without literally saying that you don't give a shit, in one picture. None of what she did is that hard. NONE. Yet, she fucked it up. Just like she fucked up the recipe and everything else. She doesn't want to take time or actually care. There are some really cool Halloween nail wraps and stickers that she could have gotten for less than $20 off of Amazon. Instead we get what most kindergarteners could have done, but they would have done better.
