I'm going to play devil's advocate on this. I think it's safe to assume when the revenge porn was leaked, Ralph was drunk as fuck, which already exacerbates his thin skin issue. Since he had a guy sitting there claiming he was cucking the Ralphamale™ himself, Ralph made the impulsive decision to release the video and taunt the guy live. He probably thought he was doing it on at least an alt account on YouTube, but he fucked it up. I believe people said that the next day, that account that Ralph used to taunt him--which was confirmed to be Ralph's--disappeared (as in it was deleted). He was probably under the assumption that the account wouldn't show up anymore in the livestream chat, since you can go in during replays of the stream and manually delete your comments so they no longer appear. He probably thought of doing that, but once it was made apparent we had archived it so he couldn't, he instead deleted it and planned to go with his Instagram and phone were hacked and his YouTube was deleted by those dirty hackers", followed by blaming the Farms and Josh for everything, as he is wont to do.

In the midst of all of this he contacts Nick to get some help. He probably was looking for legal advice, and Ralph probably spun a yarn about how he was afraid that he'd be going to jail for his totally hacked phone and Instagram. However, he may be saying that in order to preserve any confidentiality he is required to maintain still. I fully believe he told Nick he did it, and Nick is doing what he has to at this point to maintain his license and head off any possible ethics complaints that are 100% being filed by Ralph against Nick. This is why Nick has been so noncommittal in his coverage of this, why it seems even his video on Virginia's revenge porn law is so lacking: he likely knows the truth but he had to coach it behind "if he's guilty".
