Undertale

Spamton is just a really fun character, design and personality-wise. There are a lot of good shitposts involving him (Toby obviously knew what he was doing) and I find myself listening to his battle theme on repeat because it's that catchy. I was also disappointed at how he just kind of dies/disappears after the secret fight. Feels like a sudden and anticlimactic end for someone like him. Unless Toby has more planned, we'll see.

Oh right, because the next 3 chapters are coming out at the same time huh?
I wonder if it'll potentially be worth whatever price Toby decides to make it.
I imagine he'll probably charge 10-15$ for chapters 3,4,5 and either same price (if he can justify the length) or cheaper for chapters 6,7

Given that Jevil also became an equipable item, I wonder if you’ll get something special in the final chapter for having all the bonus “secret boss that becomes an item for you” stuff.

I don't know about pricing but I hope Tobyfox gots a production organized so I don't have to wait over 10 years for all the chapters to be finished.

Really ambitious for having 7 chapters since you don't know what might happen that might make it unfinished. Tobyfox has more control than some game studios but I hope he pulls it off.

man I'm also really curious about the significance of the tire slashing... was it to cause a specific change within the dark world kris later created in the house...?

I want to find out more so bad but have no choice but wait... curse episodic format......

since he's not comfortable with (you) controlling him he could just be engineering a situation where Toriel will see whats going on in a plea for help

I was thinking why couldn't he just straight up tell her about it when out of the players control, but on second thought he IS in kind of in an unbelievable situation and probably has no choice but to show her (the dark world) in person.
and it's kinda sad cause it still doesn't even guarantee she will believe it to be true and might dismiss it as a dream just like his classmates

But he is still able to tear (you) out of his body, it's probably not intentional but you can shake him in the bathroom by mashing arrow keys, so I'm actually hoping for the bad route to go so badly for Kris that he tries to rip (you) out in front of everyone while (you) try everything to stop him

Hell he kept the soul in a cage in chapter 1, why hasn't he just showed it to while it's in there? But I guess that isn't really going through his mind when he's in a lot of pain or it's already known but not mentioned yet

I think Kris slashes the car's tires so that Susie stays at his house for the night (maybe so she'll also be there once they wake up in the Dark World?). Since the tires are slashed, Toriel can't use her car to bring Susie home, so the only option left is for her to stay (I assume she can't just go by foot since it's too dark).

so how come ralsei can exist in the library dark world? did he mention something about this and I missed it?
In the scene where Lancer gets stoned Ralsei says something about the fountain where he comes from (the closet they first entered in chapter 1) being of pure darkness. Lancer comes from the room next door where the fountain was created by The Knight, so I suppose it implies that there's something incomplete about the other fountains, while being from the OG fountain gives Ralsei that perk. In gameplay terms it's a convenient excuse to prevent overlap between the chapters, but count on the implications for that being explored later.

I'd imagine the next release is going to be the full price of the game and it's going to be around $40. Undertale was $20 and Tony made that himself in like 2 and half years. Deltarune is already taking more time to make with more people, though I'm not sure how much fangamer merch is shoring up on the cash front. Then again Toby may not feel comfortable charging for the "whole product" when it won't be that but I'd be cool with it.

Toby has a team and they already worked on Chapter 2 with him (compared to chapter 1 which was basically just him and Temmie again). I see a lot of people thinking that "Chapter 2 took 3 years wow omg" which is almost certainly not true. I think a lot of people underestimate just how much goes into creating a releasable build of a game and how much of it ISN'T "making the game" so to speak. Tobys said a lot of 2019 was dedicated to getting the team together, used to working with each other and learning a new engine. If I had to guess Chapter 2 was probably done around sometime mid-summer 2020, maybe this time last year the LATEST and the decision to release it as its own build due to technical delays with later chapters probably came in early 2021, likely no later than April as to give time to plan the release window and anniversary steam to coincide with testing the new build.

This tweet from a fangamer employee suggests to me that Spamton's finished design existed at least by late 2019, so my estimates might be a little late even. I would say that production of the later chapters is probably well underway if not nearing completion, so far in that I would expect chapter 3 to be done by now and maybe even chapter 4. I'm predicting a late 2022/early 2023 release for the next 3 chapters.

tl;dr local fag is optimistic based on admittedly limited experience in game dev

Someone on 4chan has probably already done a far better job making this than me but oh well.

Anyone noticed how Ralsei says that the heroes will rise AFTER the end of the world?
There's also the fact that fangamer have apparently stated that toby requested that they don't make any merchandise of light world characters
I'm thinking that they're going to pull a jade cocoon and
fucking kill everyone.
It would also sync up with the opera scene in UNDERTALE homaging FF6 except now it's homaging the world of ruin. It's like poetry, it rhymes.
The only counter to this argument is that it wouldn't be very toby to kill off tons of NPCs and focus on gameplay. Sure there would be new NPCs in their place but it wouldn't be the same...

What do you think the G stand for in Spamton's name?
i almost jokingly said gaster
i don't think that's really what it is.

time for death, good riddance undertale characters

I loved this chapter. Deltarune is better than Undertale in my opinion, and I can't wait to play more of it. Spamton is a great character. Love that crazy son of a bitch to bits. The only thing I hated was that God damn tea cup in the basement. Couldn't do it with arrow keys, but I got it first try on the switch version after giving up before. That was the true secret boss.

My personal theory is that
Hometown is a simulation, a sort of control environment. Think less Matrix and more Truman Show. Someone or something (probably Gaster) is using the environment, circumstances and people of Hometown to create a desired outcome. We already know Sans has some level of time travel abilities and is willing to use that to help influence desirable outcomes (whether that be befriending you, encouraging you to seek better outcomes, or when push comes to shove trying to discourage you from ending the world). Sans and Papyrus are described by Snowden NPCs as "having just shown up with their house one day" and seemingly have appeared similarly in Hometown, so we can assume Sans has similar plans as to his ones in Undertale, and that he only appears in timelines of interest to him. "You" can also treat Sans like you've seen him before even tho Kris never has and Sans reacts suspiciously of this, which is fitting since he's known to be keen to behavior that identifies people who have experienced things they shouldn't have. Further the existence of Clam Girl/Goner and the "character creator" internally being referred to as "GONER MAKER" suggests that Goners are constructs/homunculi of sorts and can be disguised as normal people and may even have their personalities or memories. I believe Gaster or whoever was "making context" with "you" was seeking to "awaken" the Soul and give it a new body to replace Kris's current "weird" one and prevent the creation of too many dark worlds... Or something like that
This all may seem a little rambly and I admit it is because we haven't been shown Toby's full hand yet. I do think this is a little collection of facts and inferences that'll be important tho
