Recently I found myself in a Barnes and Noble (the sole remaining US chain bookstore, for those outside the US) and I went to check out the children’s section. They had a display of banned books with a banner encouraging kids to “be brave, read a banned book“.
A million others have made this point, but 100% of the books were raw and unfiltered globohomo, mostly gender related.
As Uncle Ted wrote, the system‘s neatest trick is that it co opts the rebellious impulse for its own purposes. If B&N has a banned book display, you can be rock solid certain that nothing in those books disturbs the sleep of the elites.
Elsewhere in the store was a banned book display for adults. Guess what wasn’t on that table! The Bell Curve. The Turner Diaries. Books that criticize the trans-industrial complex.
If it’s actually banned, you won’t even be allowed to know it exists. Watching the system that controls what you can see and read declare itself oppressed by book banners!
