Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp all go down in major outage

hehe, my mom was just asking me about why her facebook wouldn't work on her phone and tablet.
I rebooted both devices and facebook was not working
I was like, WTF, I have no time for this crap
then checked google and then found this thread

and think the last time I checked my account was early 2020
so, I wasn't aware of FB being down
and I dont care for Facebook censor bullshit, so, they can get fucked for now and I just wish it was permanent
Welcome back old user

The Zuck has lost $7 BILLION in his net worth due to this downtime

Oh no, now zuck will have to settle with the 2021 sports car model instead of the 2022. Someone get this man some benjamins to wipe his tears with. A true greek tragedy.

I fucking cant wait for the noose to tighten on the internet. And we all know it's coming. Google has been getting super creepy lately, plebbit has been tightening up. They really are trying to ensure only real, human IDs are online.

The flipside of this is that it will now be possible to have an entire fake persona. None of the verification tech is super robust, so you could very well be living life as whoever you wanted to be.

They are utterly powerless against someone who chooses to simply not be online. There's already alternatives to pretty much everything.

I like to think that for every minute of downtime, there's ~500 people who realize "Wow, it's actually pretty cool not desperately seeking attention/arguing with random people I hate online all day. Why was I doing any of this again?".

Just imagine if Twitter went down too. The trans killcount here on KF would be eclipsed within minutes.

What if the entire internet structure as we know it comes down and never comes back up? I'm super spooked right now :stress:
Well it would be a little sad never hearing from any of you weirdos again but we'd all probably be better off because we'd be busy speaking to actual human beings rather than communally stalking fat people on the internet.

That sounds pretty unusual, what would prompt that shutting all access in and out?
It’s within reason that it’s a benign reconfiguration gone wrong, but it can also reasonably be a targeted attack because this is most likely the one and only thing you can do to completely fuck over Facebook’s otherwise redundant and robust network infrastructure.
