Doubt its malicious, from what i understand the networking team there may have pushed out a patch which was bad, and said patch also ended up locking them out of any way to manage the networking hardware remotely. Which means only the pajeets in the data centers with physical access to the hardware are able to fix it.

Still though, this is so fun to watch, what a great day to see a cancer of the internet offline for so long. Facebook employees and investors are absolutely seething right now. I hope these platforms being offline for so long wakes up some people to how much time they spend on this shit and that living without it isnt so bad

facebook should die but i did needed to use whatsapp today and was delayed because of it, i also use instagram to promote my work and has been useful to network with. More than a generic "haha fuck social media" my argument is we may want to start realizing how shit it is all of it is owned by the same company, stuff like this is only the tip of the iceberg of what could go wrong when one monopoly holds all the cards.

Also I dont get all the people saying facebook is "deleted" just because the routing tables or whatever are gone. The data that is "Facebook" surely still exists on racks of storage arrays in data centers or whatever.

My minimal understanding of IT makes me think that if the spergs were running everything with VMs and if this really was a full on fuck everything attack they could jsut overwrite shit on the server farms, but I'm also an idiot.

Haven't heard of that, but I've heard other people say Twitter is down for them. It would line up with the rumors of it being a DNS issue though if they're all using the same one but iunno enough about dns and routing stuff so take it with a grain of salt just be happy it's all crumbling down
