Centralized social media has too many flaws, they are just big targets to black hats. The thing that truly bothers me is the sheer degree of fuckery that has occurred, they have too many security flaws for the amount of data they are allowed to have. In my opinion, we need to decentralize social media. Decentralized networks are gonna take off one day once people realize the benefits. Not one insitution, no matter its purpose should have sole access to THAT much data. Seeing this has convinced me personally that decentralized social media needs to be more prevalent.

I agree to a point, but you have to remember that a massive fucking chunk of that data isn't obtained by shady trackers or anything like that, but is willingly served up by retarded faggots who feel the need to vomit out their entire life on there. Many people are the type of die hard consoomers who absolutely don't mind if everyone knows their business and they have literally zero privacy so they always allow location tracking and use a shitty browser with no privacy addons. I'm talking people who own every creepy smart device and actually like targeted advertising because it gives them more ideas of shit to blow their money on. With so many people being like this, decentralized networks will probably remain a niche, because NPCs will go with the easy mode establishment option every time.
