Brianna Wu / John Walker Flynt - "Biggest Victim of Gamergate," Failed Game Developer, Failed Congressional Candidate

I look forward to this series, and its Totally Realistic Heroine, Rianna Ru - a game developer, astronaut, congresswoman, race car driver, and True & Honest Woman - that will singlehandedly make the Best Video Game Ever, which is so good it will wipe Nazis and Republicans off the face of the Earth.

HAHAHA. Just kidding. It'll get bought by the SyFyphillis Channel, and cancelled faster than Fragrant Queef....I mean, Vagrant Queen, by John's fellow troon Mags Visaggio.

Is Mind Riot even a popular company?

First time I've ever heard of them, not that I pay much attention to the entertainment industry in any case, but in doing a little digging they've done virtually nothing of note that I can find.

And as I've said before, almost no one has ever even heard of gabbergoat outside of maybe seeing it mentioned occasionally on the news. Ask any random stranger on the street what it is and I guarantee most of the time they'll have no clue. I'd never heard of it before I started lurking around here, and didn't really know what it was until I started to follow Flu (thanks The Internet Ruined My Life...)

This may get written/refined (with Flu writing it's going to need a complete overhaul), hell it may even see a pilot, but there's no way a series dedicated to a spergy hashtag "movement" will ever see any actual airtime.

This will get as far as the "Gamergate Movie" based on Zoe Quinn's book that was supposed to star Scarlett Johansen. That is, it'll stall at the "bought the rights" stage and then nada.

“We’re not going to retread the same story told in thousands of news stories from outlets such as the New York Times and Washington Post, plus multiple documentaries like GTFO. Our series will focus on new, fictional people within the industry reacting to a horrific situation. By explaining how they were unable to stop the video game industry from being hijacked by the lunatic fringe – we can show how the tactics of Gamergate were the same ones that led to tragedies like Christchurch and January 6th,” said Wu.
Assume for the sake of argument that I accept the standard media narratives of Christchurch and January 6th. How do these tie into the video game industry? Even a fictionalized one?

And here's the cybersecurity expert talking about the other big news of the day:

LMAO I remember that pitch

Can you imagine ScarJo having to put on 50 elbees, not to mention all the hardware, the pasty makeup, and the shitty tie-dye in her hair? FFS, at least with black widow, dye it ginger, dye it blond. No weird peuce or multi-color garbage.

And oh by the way, no tarnishing your brand by associating with Quinn when you're somebody who actually does something and Zoe murdered a guy.

Angry men were radicalized to hate women, they festered in incel spaces (which includes all of 4chan), somewhere in there they made up every evil conspiracy theory, and that got Trump elected. Ignore the fact that there are a bunch of different problems and the important middle part is extremely vague.

It's literally Underpants Gnome logic.

Step 1: Whore can't close her legs and gets called out
Step 2: ???
Step 3: DRUMPF!

J. Brad Wilke, world-renowned author of the screenplay for the 2011 TV movie Camel Spiders (2.5/10 on IMDb), will be John's coauthor on the series.

Bad as he is, I can't wait for him to get a look at John's illiterate scribblings. And he'd better be prepared to do all of the work and get none of the credit -- assuming that John doesn't get him fired for harassment.

How dare you, working with Brad was a very important part of this project:

True. This story about oppressed women has to be written by two men.

And since Brad has done research on camel spiders, he should have some insight into John's behavior.

The Greater Theory About GamerGate that John has always pushed, and has said would be the central part of the show, boils down to 'straight white men are angry that other people exist and want them gone'. It's one very small step above 'straight while men bad', only because they will undoubtedly have games journalists characters in there, some of whom will be men.

They will, of course, leave out the bit where there's been a constant stream of pro-GG people, men and women, who have since been outed or at least accused of being sex pests, but does include numerous men 'on the right side of history' being jailed.

The idea of this getting off the ground is fairly ludicrous, but if Vagrant Queen can get even if episode, any shit is possible. But we know the Brianna Wu method: do as little as work as possible, crow incessantly about how important the work is and what great professional titles you can add to your resumé (making sure to exaggerate them), and then lie about why nothing happened and nothing was ever your fault.

Interestingly, she hated the SVU episode on GamerGate. I thought she liked it at the time, or at the very least was up there with Zoe in claiming it was all about her...

Please, please let the main character of this shit be a really cool spy chick who is also in a sorority and an investigative journalist called Holiday. And she should have massive, ill shaped banana hands.

Wu has really milked her status as the only person who'll return our phone calls on gamergate. You know they called Anita first and then Zoe, but both of them said no.

I had forgotten about the tweets deletion but I searched Wu's tweets and all the mentions of Law and Order were negative, except for this one :story:

I'd say Bri Bri's twitter game hasn't evolved but just this past week she used the mansplaining defense on a woman.

The ten minutes of fame that will never end. If Wu wasn't such an asshole, I'd almost say the grifts are commendable especially considering her fringe role in a movement that almost no one has heard of.

Anyone care to fanfic how a Gamergate TV series would actually work? I'm struggling, maybe I'm not a good enough writer. It's difficult to envision how you milk drama out of people writing insulting twitter messages without tremendous, elephantine helpings of ham a la SVU. If you aren't going have to have Zoe Sarkeesian PG-13 raped in a bathroom stall by Logan Paul, what exactly is going to happen?

About the only thing I can come up with is some kind of Constant Gardener type thing where our Brianna Wu Mary Sue discovers that all her incredibly good friends getting PTSD inducing mean tweets on the internet and then killing themselves is actually a wheels within wheels conspiracy to elect Ronald Frump president.

Have you seen Garth Marenghi's Darkplace? Like that, but not intentionally funny.

I'm imaging some schlocky crime fighting drama with Brianna on her Porsche racing misogynistic gamers while Frank in his command center keeps her updated remotely on the latest tweets.

Yeah, I just saw this. All I can say is "Here we fucking go again."

"You can trust me" "Tell the truth" Mmhmm...

OH boy. Oh fucking boy. :story:
"It's going to be about an institution and their efforts to stop a fringe from taking it over"
"The characters are journalists, CEOs, developers, and law enforcement"
Only a trust-fund tranny could think a videogame journalist working together with CEOs and institutions to stop the underdog is a relatable protagonist.
