Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Act because a social media platform was down for five hours? God DAMN, is it THAT SERIOUS?
No, but also yes. The Businessmen faction is largely big tech, facebook and google being the two biggest of them. Neither had any real avenues of attack on them, now Facebook does. So expect both the Progs and Establishment to try to do whatever they can to hurt Facebook.

What is the end game for all this? Why Facebook?

What a convenient opportunity, now they can claim they have not done enough to censor "hate speech". Im sure soon nothing even slightly associated with the right, guns, actual history, personal freedom, etc. will be allowed on FB. Allowing Trump back on is most likely just so they can make a big spectacle of banning him again.

Maybe this will finally get people off of that awful site.

Democrat civil war, the prize is "Who gets to run the Democrats". Three fighters, no one has the upperhand. The Infrastructure bill was basically the last opportunity to defang said civil war and it fell through hard. As for why facebook, one of two primary venues to cement in people's minds whatever the DNC wants them to think, was instrumental alongside Google.

So they're mad that they lost their main source of information flow for the masses? Does the DNC have stock in FB?

No. Facebook is one of the big leaders of the Businessmen faction. Said faction is part of a three-way civil war. They are tearing it down because it's literally one of their opponents right now in the fight.

Because Facebook doesn't censor conservatives ENOUGH for their liking. Any time social media does not immediate drop the banhammer on wrongthink, that means that they are intentionally and complicit in allowing misinformation and hate speech to run wild on their platform, and Facebook has an obligation to the public to stop it.

Again, that's not sarcasm; that's the actual argument right now - Facebook does not censor ENOUGH.

So, Facebook goes down, that share of the pie is ripe for the taking? Forgive me, I fail to understand why social media is taken so seriously in today's world.

Very interesting take, I agree with it. Essentially the left would get its asses caved in a real fight. They have no will to sacrifice and die for their cause. The real problem is them calling in the UN. Dont laugh they already have taken over the Norfolk navel base in Virginia and set up compounds in Utah. They are prepping for a fight.

That UN Utah video is from 2019.

Remember when a study came out 10 years ago that said that more people got their news from Jon Stewart and The Daily Show than actual news channels?

Same thing, but replace Jon Stewart with social media. Go look at an older relative's Facebook feed: they literally live on a different planet of information than we do.

Most aren't. Yes, they'd get that share of the pie, but more specifically Facebook is -huge-, and most importantly it is mostly used by boomers. A demographic that reliably does vote. So control of Facebook provides a modicum of control over a key demogrpaphic. Social media as a whole is largely ignorable, Facebook is not. Especially when working alongside Google. Those two do way more together than people realize.

People take social media WAY TOO seriously. THAT's the scary part.

People take media in general way too seriously. It's ridiculous how much people actually base their politics and even their morals and ethics on what they see on TV never mind online.
You're right. I'd take it further and say we take experts too seriously, the media being just one spoke off of that wheel. We treat experts as gods and strangely "science" (i.e., everything) as settled so, by extension, the experts are regarded as omniscient. As I'm sure others can relate, I've noticed my educated peers are much more likely to over-rely on experts. It's created this bizarre dynamic where I find people outside of the academic/professional class superior at processing information and thinking critically. I suppose that's indicative of the enlightenment and rationalism being strongly ingrained in our culture but becoming vestiges. Think I might be starting to doom a little, back to laughing at the clowns.

Do not forget Instagram and Twitter's demographic of millennials and impressionable adults. Another reliable, albiet, short term voting bloc.
