Claims to be over six foot but is closer to 5'10".

He's stupid to film a video near a doorway and a bookcase full of books so it's easier to pinpoint his height.

That's not a muzzle, that's some sort of compensator, which I have no idea why he's got mounted.

There's nothing inherently wrong about mounting one, but I've never heard it advised either, particularly not for defensive carry where they add extra bulk and are harder to fit in many holsters while having minimal to no value.

Eh, that's a little more plausible. I don't own a glock so can't speak to how easy they are to maintain, but I'm fastidious about maintaining my carry gun and it looks about as clean as fatrick's does.

I've seen some that look like they have a coat of cheap matt black paint on them yet the owner cleans them regularly because of the climate they live in. and where they're stored.

The whole putting a compensator on a Glock came from the tacticool crowd and the so called "Roland special"

The key difference is on the Roland special the ceompensator's cuts eject the gas vericalically with a minor port on the left and right side. His compensator looks like something you'd see on a large caliber rifle.

Just to add to the pistol sperging -

It's my understanding that compensators are used on pistols in marksmanship competitions, to lessen recoil and enable quicker follow up shots. For EDC (every day carry) it is completely impractical due to the bulkiness and weight added to the pistol.

That shooting 'stance' reminds me of this -

I can't tell glocks apart except by model number (and sometimes not even then). I know he has a .22- is THAT the handgun on which he has mounted a barrel compensator?

That's the firearms equivalent of screwing (not bolting) a massive wing spoiler on your Prius.

Edit: also, Rick, buy some clothes that fucking fit. You just make yourself look fatter trying to squeeze into sizes that are now way too small for you.

By the way, given that we have a photo of Rick right behind him (they're 6.87in in height) and a full size photo of him it's not hard to determine how tall he is. Couple that right next to a door frame and a five shelf book shelf it's pretty easy to pinpoint his actual height.

This part stuck out to me as well, the entire point of a compact or subcompact is to make it easier to carry...advantages he immediately eliminates by adding an extra 3/4 of an inch to the end of the gun with the compensator and over an extra inch to the grip. :story:

Also one size larger might help hide the super obvious chonk by being larger and making that fatty hamhock look slightly smaller in comparison. This thing appears to be just for instagram photos anyway so why even pretend you need the smaller frame for carry?

I don't want to derail this conversation too much with gun sperging but you're correct the original reason people put these compensators on pistols was competition shooting.

But it was a very specific gun and caliber, 9×25mm Dillon

9×25mm Dillon was a 10mm necked down to accept a 9mm bullet.

In the classes these guns operated in there was a power factor handicap and it allowed the competitors to do some pretty nutty things. Specifically the 9×25mm Dillon round in conjunction with a ported or compensated barrel allowed a huge amount of that burning gas to vent upwards instead of behind the bullet and it gave these guns virtually zero muzzle rise.

From what I heard it was pretty rough on the shooters shoulders though because that energy that would have otherwise went into muzzle rise was transmitted directly rearward into the shooter's body.

Of course 9mm isn't 9×25mm Dillon and his whole rig is silly.
