Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

There's an easy solution to this issue if you're Taiwan. Line your entire coastline with mines, the second they even come close to the coastline launch sarin gas. If they still keep coming launch more chemical weapons. If they somehow proceed drop radioactive materials which cause ARS onto them Any chinks that is captured should be submitted to either drawing and quartering or the rack, they may be melting from ARS but they still deserve more suffering. They aren't human and anyone who argues they deserve rights is a CCP shill.
It may have been a Clancy thing, but I seem to remember reading something about speculation that Taiwan had acquired nuclear weapons and set them up as mines between them and the mainland as a last resort. That's crazy though, who would give Taiwan nuclear weapons.

Wasn't there plans after Vietnam to completely shut down the USMC till Grenada or the first Gulf War happened iirc.
Not sure. Don't remember the Marines in Grenada. Army was there. Remember at least one Army paratrooper sitting in on an intelligence briefing, after the Grenada operation, at a base where I was stationed.

Believe they can make their own rather quickly if they took a mind to, just like Japan and South Korea. Matter of fact, would be surprised if these three countries were NOT moving ahead, very quietly, on their nuclear weapons programs. They can read Joey's scribbling on the wall, just like us.

If it's leaking out, it's because they're trying to intimidate Taiwan into giving in without a fight. The absolute last thing the Mainland wants is video of burning landing craft and dead Chinamen on Taiwanese beaches after they bumblefuck their way into a disaster of a landing. Leak that shit past their Great Firewall and the Mandate of Heaven is fucking gone.

This is essentially Pravda for China(or the NYT as the example). They are straight up saying Taiwan is apart of China right now. Biden nor the Military will do anything about this primarily because the minute one of our carriers sink we lose all possible face at global hegemony.

You can still be a paper tiger as long as you don't get wet.

It doesn't appear as though anybody's seen it yet, but I was wrong about the Supreme Court throwing out legal forced sterilization in regards to Pennsylvania passing forced sterilization legislation on men over 40 or having their third child. Lemme give you the lo' down.

Forced sterilization was excused away by the theory of eugenics & forced sterilizations started happening in the late 1800s, specifically for the mentally handicapped & criminally incarcerated before there were any laws regarding it which raged on until the 1940s, slowed by the 1960's but continues today. One of the first applications of this behavior occurred at the Kansas State Asylum for Idiotic and Imbecile Youth in 1894 by Dr. Hoyt Pilcher who sterilized both male & female patients at the ward.

1907 was when the first law permitting it passed in Indiana by Governor Frank J. Hanly under the pretense that "criminality, mental problems, and pauperism were hereditary" & "we owe it not only to ourselves, but to the future of our race and nation, to see that the defective and diseased do not multiply". After this legislation passed into law in Indiana, 30 other states followed suit & the Mengele-esque fun began.

Enter Buck Vs. Bell in 1927, the first serious case of forced sterilization to enter into the Supreme Court in which the Supreme Court sided with sterilizing young woman Carrie Buck out of the state of Virginia. Buck was an inmate at the Virginia Colony for the Feebleminded because she had a baby out of wedlock. This ruling meant that states now had the police power to carry out forced sterilizations, a fate which befell Carrie Buck after she had her first baby.

It was stated by Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. that '‘three generations of imbeciles are enough".

Between the years of 1928 to 1932 it was found that women were sterilized twice as often as men were. Inb4 "based" comments because "it's okay when it happens to the sex I don't like." More than half of the 30,000 known sterilizations occurred in California. I am shocked to hear California would commit such an atrocity⸮

North Carolina would coerce people into undergoing sterilizations by threatening their social service benefits. Basically the same shit as China's Social Credit program where you can't ride the bus if your score is too low; dystopian.

Enter Skinner Vs. Oklahoma 1942 in which ruled against Oklahoma's Sterilization Act of 1935. This law operated on a three strikes rule in which sterilized anyone caught committing three crimes or more which amounted to a felony. It was found that this violated the 14th amendment & the Supreme Court deemed it unconstitutional.

This didn't explicitly outlaw force sterilization however, while although several states began gutting their own legislation making it legal, but it didn't overturn Belle Vs. Buck & remains legal as its own legislation & forced sterilization continues to this day.

Sterilization continues to be incentivized to be used on inmates to this day, most often but not exclusively done to child predators, even giving them lighter sentences if they agree to the sterilization. I have no idea how a dry sneeze is supposed to prevent more sexual assault when it's most prevalent in prison.

One particular case includes Barbara & Ronald Gross who were found to have abused their own children in 1993 who were offered probation instead of conviction if they took the sterilization. I disagree with this because it wouldn't do anything to stop them from being predators & they belong in prison.

Many forced prison sterilizations of women were unlawful in nature, as over a hundred women in California were forcibly sterilized between 2006 & 2010. Targets of such forced sterilizations were those thought to become repeat offenders in the future, so forced sterilization was administered as a punishment for pre-crime.

Even though forced sterilizations on the mentally handicapped ceased since the 1960s, Relf v. Weinberger 1974 found that poor people were being threatened denial of welfare benefits & medical care if they didn't take sterilizations. Black women were victims of force sterilization under the pretext of receiving "appendectomies" which were undertaken by medical students unknowingly performing hysterectomies.

Recent allegations include border hoppers being given sterilization treatments under false pretenses as described by whistleblower Dawn Wooten. Ironic.

So there you have it, sterilization was never explicitly made illegal by the Supreme Court but remains a seldom used treatment for inmates & coerced treatment for illegal immigrants.

So yes, Pennsylvania can absolutely pass this forced vasectomy legislature & enforce it with Supreme Court precedent backing them. Get out of Pennsylvania while you can LMAO.

It really is a shame that the military won't ever get a chance to lose a war to China.

Oh wait we already did! :story:

Technically, they're not wrong, Taiwan is the legitimate government of the Republic of China. It's possible the Chinese could sink one of our carriers, although unlikely, I would not want to be in the PLA(N) if they should manage such a feat though. That's not a thing you can slink away from, even if you're a mostly brain dead Dem, that's a legit act of war, there would be retaliation and the Chinese will not like it. And before you say anything, if the administration refused you'd probably see beltway critters swinging from lamp posts. American capital ships being sunk leads to someone getting beaten like a rented mule.

The PLA(N) is a brown water navy with delusions of grandeur with a pair of shitty carriers, with shitty carrier aircraft with no serious load capacity or range. While a threat, I'd be more concerned about the Russian navy in a fight than I would the Chinese.

The Facebook whistle blower shit gets weirder and weirder. Here's another Scott Adams thing for you: when a news story comes out that confirms (perfectly) all of your preconceived notions and/or biases, you should immediately become skeptical because it is extremely rare that there is some groundbreaking discovery that confirms (perfectly) one side of a narrative.

This Facebook thing is too on the nose. It's too perfect and it seems like the players involved have no intent to use that perfect storm of a scandal to fix any actual problems; instead they all seem predisposed to want to increase censorship and bad oversight while trying to hide their true colors. They're using the free speech crowd's desire to see Big Tech face justice against them.
The stupidest thing that this "whistleblower" has said is that Facebook has helped "promote anorexia". It's like -- bitch, where? 40%+ of the US is obese and the percentage of the population that is underweight is under 1%, with those very underweight practically non-existent. People have been moral panicking about this anorexic boogeyman for decades, but America/the West has only become fatter and fatter.

There's no anorexia epidemic, you dumbass.

There IS an obesity epidemic, however - we just can't say anything about that, because "BoDy PoSiTiViTy!", (which only ever seems to swing one way, funny that) and "FaTpHoBiA!"

In the scenario I think most likely the carriers would be sunk while they are supposed to be defending Taiwan, or 'saving' Taiwan from a Chinese occupation. In that situation we would go to war, but the damage would be done and the US loses the veneer of the sole world super power. I also don't have a lot of faith in a Navy that runs into its own ships and a commercial tanker, but that's a different story.

People like to overestimate the US strength, even now after Afghanistan and I'm not sure why. Ignoring the demographic changes our military force has seen, we know the people in charge are politicians not military minds. And anytime you give someone 30+ years time to counter your main strength... probably enough time. Afaik the US military strategy hasn't changed for decades. And it shows.

OK, so they sink a carrier in the opening phases.

I think we'll be OK.

Now, add in that we have a dozen or so carriers just sitting there, in places like Bremerton, mothballed and turnkey'd.

They sink one of ours, there will be a moment of "You did what?" and then the US comes wading back in.

Even if we lost four taking out their two, once those two are gone, they're gone. The rest of the US Fleet will jump up and down on the rest of their shitty fleet like power-ups are going to pop out of their burning ships, meanwhile we're doing offshore bombardment on their shitty coastal cities, since that's primarily what China is. Those islands get mowed under by the Marines actually making the first amphibious landing they've done in nearly a century, backed up by the Navy, and after that, well...

The trick is to retaliate without eating a nuke on CONUS.

Of course, once that happens, it'll go from 1.2 billion Chinamen to a couple dozen million, and nothing of value will be lost. Russia can roll in and take up what isn't radioactive, and the world is a better place.

I think a lot of people under-estimate the US military strength because since 1991 we haven't really flexed at all.

If everyone looks at Afghanistan and Iraq as how it will go fighting against an actual nation state with population, industry, infrastructure, and politicians, that's like looking at a deer being hit by a VW and saying that the same deer would cave in the front of a high speed frieght train.

It doesn't work.

How did Korea go? I bet we really kicked some Chinese ass!
In the three year Korean War, an estimated 3 million Koreans died, mostly civilian, and killed nearly 1 million Chinese troops. The US lost almost 34,000 service members and more than 105,000 were wounded.

A roughly 29 to 1 K/D rate.

And that was with a surprise attack in the middle of logistics problems in the middle of winter for the surprise attack.

"Whistleblower" implies an illegal activity, but that's not what she's reporting, is it? It's that they finally balked at giving the DSA control over their site?
This woman has serious "It's Ma'am" vibes.
My biggest problem with the whistleblower is that she is saying shit that we knew was true 3+ years ago like it's breaking news.

Yes, we already knew excessive social media leads to depression. Here's a 2018 article about it, and it's just the first one I found so I'm sure there are older ones.

As for the rest of it, yeah, we already know you've determined all conservatives are evil lying conspiracy theorists and need to be banned. That's literally been the underlying theme of the last 18 months if not longer. This is NOT news.
Libs are behind the times on everything. Saw one defending Biden's actions in Afghanistan because the Taliban made most of their gains under Trump. We knew that already but this jerkass didn't hear about it til Milley's testimony at Congress last week or so.

Seriously, it's like living in the future only you don't get credit for being right.

What war was this?
I'm assuming he means Korea but while it wasn't a total victory South Korea still stands so it's not a defeat. MacArthur accomplished the original goal of driving out the Norks, then got pushed out of North Korea when he got too greedy. The Chinese then launched offensives into South Korea but were unable to push past Seoul and now just pretend they only wanted to drive the US out of North Korea.

The problem with winning wars is that our politicians are so often on the side of the enemy.
