Skipping past the rest of the autism, I'd like to discuss this one:
So I had to refresh my memory on this, but in a nutshell, SALT deductions are "state and local tax deductions," which allowed people to deduct their state and local taxes from their federal tax returns. This overwhelmingly applied to blue states with rampant welfare programs and high taxes to support them; the wealthy could simply write off all those taxes on their federal returns, passing on the costs to basically everyone else in the nation and effectively forcing you to support things you didn't agree with in states you didn't even live in.
Trump's tax reform bill put a cap on SALT deductions to $10k, so any state/local taxes you would pay above that amount now have to be paid. This predominantly affects actually rich people in blue states that have excessive tax rates, especially the bugmen metropolises who triple dip with local taxes as well. Naturally, the donor class does not approve of this, and neither do blue states' governments who are no longer able to rely on the federal government to support their wild spending sprees.
I don't even know what the fuck Bob's blathering about with regards to SALT deductions supporting students or whatever, but the quoted tweet that says that repealing the SALT deduction cap would be "tax relief for Blue States' upper middle class" is bullshit. Now I will be fair and mention that I'm getting this definition from Wikipedia, but the general definition is something around the top 15% of the population, with personal incomes of $62,500 or more and household incomes of $100k or more. You can play around with these
income and
property tax calculators I found to see how much you'd have to make to start running into the SALT deduction cap. To put it simply, even at the borderline between the upper middle and upper classes and even in a very blue state, you're still going to be able to deduct most of your state/local taxes, and most of the upper middle class will still be able to deduct them all. You might have to pay a few thousand, but that's not going to break the bank. And if you don't like it, hey, you can easily move to a red state and enjoy lower taxes and keeping more of your money.
You'd think that a proposal that actually taxes the rich would be considered a good thing to lefties, but no, because Trump had his hand in it, it's actually evil and needs to be undone. Bob once again proves he knows jack and fucking shit about what he's talking about.
