Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

I'm a day late, but this meme reminds me of a quote from British general Hugh Percy, who led a relief column that rescued the redcoats involved in the battles of Lexington and Concord.
From a letter dated 4/20/1775, the day after the battles:

During the whole affair the Rebels attacked us in a very scattered, irregular manner, but with perseverance and resolution, nor did they ever dare to form into any regular body. Indeed they knew too well what was proper, to do so.

Whoever looks upon them as an irregular mob will find himself much mistaken. They have men amongst them who know very well what they are about, having been employed as Rangers against the Indians and Canadians; and this country, being much covered with wood, and hilly, is very advantageous for their method of fighting.

Nor are several of their men void of a spirit of enthusiasm, as we experienced yesterday, for many of them concealed themselves in houses and advanced within 10 yards to fire at me and other officers, though they were morally certain of being put to death themselves in an instant.

You may depend upon it that as the Rebels have now had time to prepare, they are determined to go through with it, nor will the insurrection turn out so despicable as it is perhaps imagined at home. For my part, I never believed, I confess, that they would have attacked the King‘s troops, or have had the perseverance I found in them yesterday.

Ok, I know this is 2-3 weeks late, but this is the first time I've heard of this story.

Part of the $3.5T plan was to "subsidize" journalists $50K/year?

That doesn't seem biased at all! No wonder they are sperging the fuck out about it so much.

huh-uh.gif

So is this $50k per publication or $50k per journo? The latter is just too fucking much. The former is a bandaid on cancer.

I think it might be better to consider an attack on Taiwan in terms of three 'Phases'.

Phase 1: The initial attack, days 1 and maybe 2 depending on Japanese response time. This one is entirely up to Taiwan, sinking as much of their ships and transports as possible and doing bitter fighting on the coast. The entire goal here is -delay-.
Phase 2: Japanese reinforcements, securement of the waters. Japan + Taiwan have a good chance in a defensive battle to go toe to toe with China.
Phase 3: America rocks up and begins the absolute naval slaughter, Taiwanese and Japanese forces focus on securing any remaining land forces.

Considering it'd need to get past any Chinese AA, yes.

Likely not that much of a problem. Go in at night, low, under radar coverage. Send in a bunch, 10-12, from varying directions. They get past unwary defenses and hit before what defenses there are can react.

The latest on Scheller. Surprised to see he is only heading for a special court-martial. No generals on the panel, just colonels and lieutenant colonels. Judge could be a colonel, lieutenant colonel, or maybe a Navy captain.

Looks like there's been some sort of deal. Not surprised the USMC piled on the charges, easier to make at least one stick. Still would like to know if he'll get a psych eval. Needs one badly.

44% of people believe Joe is honest....
I think he is honest! mainly because I think his brain is too fucked to lie anymore, and he's just reading off what the liars have informed him is the turth.

On land, sure. Across the sea? That's a lot of distance to traverse without getting spotted, and they know the direction it'd come from. Not to mention the fact they'd need to make a beachead despite every inch of that being more lit up than Christmas morning. Radar isn't the only way to spot things, and there are a lot of fancy toys now.

In this clown world, you know America is gonna overreach and start a Phase 4: Invade the Chinese mainland and get into a bloody stalemate and a possible MAD situation.

Realpolitik says they should just leave it. They gain no material worth from Taiwan. It's not rich in any real resource China lacks in, their constant need to have men ready to take it is a massive drain on them, and they would expand a ton of resources to gain it for... no real pragmatic reason.
You understand that the original, legitimate Chinese government is what's on Taiwan, right? They have to retake it or their reign is illegitimate. They can't not take it over.

I am aware of the history, but by any practical terms the CCP -have- been made the legitimate Chinese state.

I'm talking about practical terms though. Until they take it over they're a pariah state that is illegitimate. There's no argument there.
Except there is. Because they aren't a pariah state. Everyone does business with them, it is their people on the UN council, it is them that is thought of when the word "China" appears. Everyone legitimized them decades back.

Yeah, like how 3.5 trillion is actually zero. Then again, perhaps you can chalk that up with being stupid as opposed to being dishonest.
