GenCon is a tabletop convention founded by Gary Gygax. Sadly, it has devolved into your standard pozzed shit. Hell, I highly doubt they know who Gary Gygax is. It gets worse when you find out that GenCon blacklisted Luke Gygax.

Some actually don't. They want any mention of Gary removed from history and this was before the kerfuffle with his son a year or so ago which saw his company dissolve. They want nothing to do with the Gygax legacy. I don't see why they just don't change the name then since they want none of the history that goes with it.

He was a Republican and invented Dungeons and Dragons. He was also known to supported the dreams of younger writers. Carried a gun wherever he went.

There's an interesting FBI Report about him. It was a report that was created to hunt down role players because such people were "dangerous".

Gunt is too much of a hot mess for me to keep up with. I was listening to Nick Rekieta's interview with Null recently, and just hearing other people talk about Ralph made me feel fat, drunk, and greasy.

Because I'm big into neither RPGs nor conventions (god no ) and I've only heard about them here I assumed "gencon" was some gender-fluid nonsense where everyone pretends to be a pretty princess and talk about their OC (do not steal) ripoff of Drizzt.

I think 'gencon' likely fits their purposes more than it does the original meaning ("Lake Geneva Wargaming Convention.”)

It's possible if we had exactly the same flu for the first time in 2020-21, it wouldn't have even killed as many as the coof. But we don't really know. We're a lot better now at treating the symptoms of flu-like illnesses. We didn't have ECMO then for instance, and while the odds aren't great of living if you need that, they'd have been zilch back then.
