I don’t really feel like this applies when you threaten suicide at least once a month.
Besides, what “help” are people supposed to give? Kill Jesse Singal? Force publishers to give Jake a job? Get murderers that don’t exist arrested?
This argument would be a lot more convincing if troons--and Jake especially--didn't have a long, long history of suicide baiting to emotionally blackmail others into giving them attention. If they really cared about suicide prevention, they wouldn't abuse the baiting.
This is what's so manipulative and disgusting about the whole situation. Jake doesn't act suicidal. He acts like a spoiled brat threatening to hold his breath until he DIES, MOM!
I get that he doesn't have any friends or family or casual acquaintances in his real life to reach out to when he's feeling bad, so all he can do is turn to his "friends" on social media to wail at until he gets some attention. Normal people might have a hard time understanding this and I'm not excusing it, but that actually makes a little sense. It's pathetic, but I can see it.
But his suicidal desperation doesn't stem from him being depressed. Even he says this. He's not the one with the problem, guize. He doesn't need antidepressants or electroconvulsive therapy or whatever. He's just a perfectly normal woman. It's the Nazis and his lack of toys that are going to make him kill himself.
Even the Nazis thing might, deeps down, be fixable with some pills; he might be more delusional than we realize and need an antipsychotic to go along with his daily HRT. (Or, he might need to lay off the HRT if it's making him loony. Loonier.) The targeted harassment of a journalist who barely knows he exists and even then, is only vaguely aware of Jake as a Twitter account might be related to this, but it's just as likely that he really thinks he has the clout to end a career. Or at least, he thinks he deserves the clout to cancel Singal, and that the cancellation is imminent and he wants to be in the vanguard and get interviewed and be the face (or at least the Twitter handle) of the trans revolution where anyone even slightly critical or questioning is put up against the wall.
He wants that even more than the stuff of his Amazon wishlist. Which he'll get anyway, along with a huge boost to his Patreon, as soon as this latest witch hunt pans out and he starts his own CON, and he's suddenly as famous as Zoe and she'll return his calls again, and everyone who abandoned him for being a creep will beg forgiveness and he can cancel them in retaliation if he wants, and it'll be like the good old days where he's important and he has friends and makes a ton of money "researching" and "doing activism" from the comfort of his attic. Because really, what's the difference between him and Zoe anyway? They're both women in the gaming industry who get picked on because they're too beautiful. She got to speak at the UN. Why can't Jake?
If only he could build up enough pity for the world at large to say, "You know what? Violet's suffered enough. We should really form a mob and smite some people for her". That's what leadership is, right?
