the job has become increasingly awful during the pandemic as more and more people quit and the remaining employees have had to pick up the slack, with no new hires coming in on the horizon. I've grown to hate it, and I can tolerate that in a job, but now the president is making me get the jab literally just so he can brag about increasing vax rates during a presser? fuck this and fuck him, lol

finally, I don't really see it as increased job security in the long term. first of all we all know there's no end to clown world, this mandate is a complete reversal from Biden's previous promises and the latest in long line of goalpost shifting from the original premise of "just masks for two weeks to flatten the curve guys!!!1" I don't see it ending with compliance here any more than all the previous bullshit we agreed to. if anything I'm afraid that widespread compliance proves that the president can write an edict and hold my job hostage to get me to comply with his political demands. that stresses me out even more thinking about what that may be used for in the future because I'm way into stuff that neoliberals and progressives loathe. maybe I'm paranoid but decades of advocating for things like free speech and gun rights have taught me you have to assume every precedent will be brought back to justify more draconian shit later, so never give up any important ground you don't absolutely have to give up
