Special education in the US allows any student with an IEP go to school until they are 21, and even 22 in some states (though typically they have to be 21 the first day of school but can turn 22 during the school year). Depends on state really if they are getting the help they need. It takes a bit of extra work to get a autistic kid or such to wear a mask and requires parents to help which doesn'talways happen. Most at home services are still not running in my state so kids that are profoundly disabled that lose more from inconsistency are losing a lot of milestones and progress.
This is PL but dont care. Had a school threaten to call the cops on an autistic kid because they couldn't handle him. He was 9. If you can't handle a fucking 9 year old you shouldn't even be a teacher.
I know Michigan is unique because special ed goes until they are 26 there. That is one of the reasons a lot of parents of special needs people move there and why the prevalence of autism there is so high.

I read the thread on MLMs here and thankfully a few posters discussed the Chris watts case a few years ago. I know her kids weren't tarded, I'm not gonna Necro it but damn , pretty sure I saw one of those "are u in a cult" lists but for MLMs. The special wording and language, built in excuses, only hang with people who WANT U TO SUCCEED (read: isolation from family and friends) etc. The media did a good job not discussing how wife shannon watts MLMs were a significant argument in their marriage - multiple bankruptcies.

That's what the staff at Cook Children's say. In Tinslee's case, it probably isn't just pooping that kills her, though. From what I understand, any kind of external stimulus (repositioning her in bed to prevent decubitus ulcers, suctioning her trach, administering medication) causes Tinslee to code. Reportedly, her catastrophic brain damage has also resulted in severe, deforming joint contractures. Nurses have to use a ton of force to physically make her hips and legs bend when changing her diaper. It's so upsetting for them that many refuse to be involved in her care, and those who do apologize to her the entire time they're doing it.
