Sunrise Movement - Zoomer "climate activist" cult, stormed the Capitol before it was cool

Like with the BLM thing, I think climate change is just their wedge. They recruit by pulling in people who are legitimately scared about things that are happening, but then have them work on other "social justice" causes.
It's an affinity group

As they so helpfully state themselves, affinity groups are the primary building blocks of anarchist groups. Given the proximity between the DSA and Sunrise, as well as their exclusive use of the very young, I'm willing to guess that Sunrise is a feeder organization for other groups.

This 100%. My brother has told me that shit like racial equity and free college is absolutely neccissary in order to stop THE CLIMATE CRISIS, but so far has been unable to explain why. I don't think these kids are thinking very hard about what their being told to say and believe- or they're outright shamed and ostricized if they question it.

They use shame and threats of ostracism quite liberally. If your brother ever questions why free college is necessary to stop climate change then he'll be insulted by his new friends and they may threaten to kick him out of the group.

Have they tried getting him involved in protesting yet?

So "whorephobia" is a thing now?

wat
It's been horrible bigotry to be "anti-sexwork" for a few years now.

Now wait, before you go, you need to know that "sexwork" does not simply mean prostitution or literal street walking or even being someone who sleeps around a lot. If you are a white upper middle class troon neet who does nothing all day but stick things in your asshole and sometimes videos this and posts a few of these on the internet, you are in "sexwork" and it's violent bigotry to criticize you and you're part of the same struggle as a impoverished Black trans hooker in Brazil.

I think there is also a Black power group along these same lines. However as I remember they were fairly inactive.
These guys?

I've been waiting to bring up the BITE model:

Is that from an official Sunrise document? If it is, holy shit.
No, it's from an anti-cult group. I get where you're coming from, but they haven't yet admitted that they're a cult yet.

For what it's worth I don't think they ever will. The difference between Sunrise and the People's Temple (which I remember @NoReturn comparing them to) is that Jim Jones didn't believe what he said. People like Sara Blazevic, Mattias Lehman, Varshini Prakash or your brother do and so don't think that they're part of a cult; they think they're taking part in a righteous fight for "climate justice" and are willing to use any means to get it. This is probably also why quite a few people leave Sunrise - from what I've heard they put a lot of emphasis on being part of their "climate revolution" and lots of people don't have the time to spend on that.

It's pretty obvious if you get crazy enough. Both problems and pretty much everything the far-left bitches about is a side-effect of Western dominance as cemented by the Industrial Revolution. So to undo that you have to stack the power structure with "diverse" people who in theory will shape the system according to their own folkways, thereby transforming it into something less Faustian. The free college fits too, people viewing their higher education as an expensive investment makes them less likely to take the kind of courses that spread the ideology most thoroughly, while also encouraging the capitalist mindset that they want to stamp out.

I wonder if they believe that every pre-colonial nonwhite civilisation were a bunch of hippies straight out of Avatar too.

What concerns me about this group is when they start commuting acts of violence that’s freighting

I’ve been curious about these guys since last year, especially after I got a hand-written post card from them during election season.

Their focus on young people is especially suspicious. I swear there’s something in those leaked internal documents that says (in the usual progressive language) that people over 30 in the organization need to shut up and let the younger members run the show. As if everybody at the top who’s funding this thing isn’t either Gen X or a Boomer.
Out of interest, did the postcard look like this?

Sunrise's friends at the DSA have decided to "recruit through mutual aid":

Recruiting poor people by offering them free food sounds awfully like what a religion would do.

On that note, I'm sure @Crystal Golem told me something about the DSA running retreats where they get their members to swear oaths or something. Can you go into any more detail?

Unfortunately I can't really remember and was unable to find what I was thinking about but I swear I remember reading about either the DSA or one of these wierd little movments doing a youth retreat that makes all the previous cult-like stuff look like nothing. However like I said I can't really find receipts for this so I can't really say.

Sooner or later they are starting going to bomb pipelines
Probably, yeah. I don't think Sunrise themselves will be blowing up pipelines because officially they're a non-violent organisation, but it wouldn't surprise me if some of their members do it and leadership looks the other way or supports them.

Basically the same thing that happened in the 2020 riots.

It’s starts off peaceful then Sooner or later it’s members embrace extremist tactics that everyone had been seeing for the last year or two
the media will defend them until they strike at what the media loves the most
christ they could attack people who as they see the enemy like either cnn or Fox or whoever by storming the office and holding them hostage christ
