I haven't even finished the Hobbit trilogy of films. I might've seen the second one but I only remember the first, and hardly. I think if I go into it fresh not expecting LotR quality then they'll be fun.

I wonder what the odds of getting an HD remaster of The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age are. I don't think any old LotR games have ever been rereleased again. It's the best game in the franchise though, so hopefully it finds its way to the Portendo Switch eventually.

Also there are many female heroes in Tolkien's stories (Eowyn's defiance to fight with the Rohirrim was absolutely critical to the plot in LOTR). This right here is the basis of his works. Inserting blacks where none existed or women/females merely for the sake of appearance shows a lack of understanding of the mythos he created and disrespects his legacy.

Edit; I want to add that this is cheap and shoddy, not to mention just plain lazy. Why are no works based on the pantheon of Yoruba deities and religion/folk stories? There's no prohibition, that I know of, of representing these deities in art. pictures or film. Nigerians are sophisticated and educated, I think they have the highest education levels on the African continent, so surely they could hire some qualified Nigerian historians/religious leaders to advise them. To this day I remember the stories my nanny told us about the Yoruba gods ( I learned later she was into Santeria so that's where it came from) and boy did she have a way with words. A movie about Yoruba gods would be way more interesting and entertaining than hobbits in blackface.

Hire my old nanny, Amazon. She's worth a dozen of these shit writers and then some.

What's wild is despite this massive undertaking, he honestly succeeded. Tolkeins books are borderline sacred text in the UK, and ever since Jackson's brilliant movie adaptation its entered the divine mythologies of western civilization in general.

So of course these monsters will want to deconstruct it. True servants of Melkor. They cannot create anything new. They can only take what Good has made and pervert it to their own ends. What is wild is just how unaware they are of what they are doing. All this talk of black Hobbits and female empowerment (as if Tolkeins works ever lacked for that) is a dog whistle to the the current hate filled cultural zeitgeist. And they think it's good.
