What’s a “halal restaurant”? I’m Muslim and I don’t know what she’s talking about. Halal is a set of dietary restrictions, not a cuisine. I thought progressive leftists were supposed to care about getting their labels right?

A halal restaurant serves food that complies with halal dietary restrictions. Otherwise sell a mixture of different kinds of food, they just follow the guidelines. There's one across town I sometimes stop in at, and they sell curry gyros, indian pizza and big fucking burgers.....just halal.

Sometimes even with the halal symbol. All it really means is anything they serve is guaranteed to be halal. It's a lot more common to see it on a butcher shop, though. They're usually ethnically Middle Eastern or Indian.
