Stumbled into this thread and hoh boy.
I've only ever been to wedding when I was a kid but i'll keep it brief.
It was for some relatives, Halloween costume party, and the wedding WAS on Halloween. From what I remember it was more of a party with a wedding taped onto it last minute? Lets say the marriage didn't last and the groom only married the bride hoping her parents would die soon so he could get the inheritance.
I'm protestant like the rest of my family, but even I know getting married on Halloween night is some bad news (since oooo it's the devils niiiight~), and I'm not even super religious.
Another wedding I heard of was from my dad. He knew someone during his travels and this guy used to be a California cop before joinin the armed services. Anyways, cop guy here has like a 100K fairytale wedding with his fiancé. Horse drawn carriage, the works and ends up a fuck ton of money in debt (something I think is r-tarded about weddings tbh.). One day my dad and the cop guy are hanging out, and the guy gets a call to find out his wife was cheating on him. According to my dad, the cop guy and wife got divorced after they got back and the guy is still in debt. Granted this happened years ago and we dunno what happened to the cop guy nor do we really care.
Maybe i'm just confused cause i'm young and never been in love, but what is the obsession with blowing so much money on a wedding? Sure the anime ones are cringe, but I can't help but go "awe thats kinda cute" (well except for the pokemon one, that was pretty bad) cause to me it looked like everyone really was having fun, it looked affordable, and it was like a comfortable wedding. Nothing too big, and you can tell everyone involved was enjoying it, compared to those 50K weddings where you just KNOW some people came for the food and open bar.
Edit: I didn't know re tard was gonna be censored when i checked on mobile ffs
