Didn't he average a death count of at least 300+ for each of his SNES Donkey Kong Country & Super Mario World 2 runs.

Yes. I guess I should have underlined he does alright for his usual standard. Also, he couldn't beat some DK game without savestates. He does well (again, for his usual performance) at 2D sidescrollers. He still sucks at platformers.

Also, since those games are harder than modern stuff, you could say dying a hundred times isn't all that rare depending on the title and individual hamhandedness, but that comes down to points of view. Beating Sunset Riders on hard with less than 100 deaths if blind would be fairly impressive in my book, but it's basically western Contra and you die in one shot.

Phil once famously said that he can understand any language because he studied Latin and all languages are based of Latin.

He then retconned this to he can't read or speak Latin.

i think i found an explanation for this discrepancy.
phil did learn latin in school, but his gin pickled brain is slowly ridding him of his knowledge.
so both were true in the time he said them, with the obvious exaggeration that it lets him know all languages.

I don't understand why people are having such difficulty with the valedictorian thing. Is it really that hard to believe that Phil had a higher GPA than 29 Basketball-Americans? Just the fact that Good Boy Phil showed up to class every day and turned in something for every assignment probably put him at the top of that class.

i have an alternate theory. philip burnell is indeed the valedictorian. but their happened to be another phillip burnell in his class. thats the only way i'll accept it.

What annoys the shit out of me are people like Phil who lord over people with how "smart" they are. There's a useful rule of thumb I've found when it comes to determining who is and isn't smart: people who act better than other people are generally not as smart as they act, and people who are confident in their abilities and knowledge but humble and gracious to other people tend to be much smarter. Or at least, that's how it comes off.

Phil is the embodiment of if you have to constantly remind people and convince them you're something like smart, funny, sarcastic, clever, good at something, thick skinned chances are, well, you're not. NOW, on a totally unrelated question....I heard he went on some tangent about not finding men attractive like he got a case of the not gays? Again TOTALLY unrelated question...yeah..

So cut him some slack, okay? SMB is a complicated physics based game not everyone can immediately grasp. It moves too quickly for chat to help him, too.

It's kinda funny that when he first played the game, like the first stream. he claimed that this game was a rip off of sonic spinball, yes SMB is a pinball game..

Then again this is also the same skinwalker who thinks Deathloop, a FPS that plays with the groundhog day concept looping until the players is able to efficiently assassinate all targets in a day chasing another assassin there to stop you with a choice at the end

is the same game as Dishonored, a FPS with a forward-moving narrative about revenge in a plague torn dystopian land using stealth, paranormal powers, RPG elements and a morality system

AND Prey, an FPS that's Metroidvaina-like with sci-fi Survival Horror aspect about a guy who wakes up on a moonbase that's been over-run by these creatures with a huge twist at the end.

The only thing they have in common is the same dev studio and the first-person perspective. But to phil they're the same game. Oh and Dishonored and Prey were, IMO, amazing games.


Oh and I would argue that he was just being hanest gais when the first day of fall happened and he claimed how he could now wear vests as the magic switch was flip that turned summer in to fall weather at 12:01 am. He commented how he could wear hats and vests more often now....
