She’s lying. Schuyler never swam in competition. Once she joined the Harvard men’s team, Bailar only swam in the exhibition category, a non competitive category where your times are not added to the overall team score at a meet.

Basically she was only ever swimming against her own personal bests every time she left the blocks. Her times were well below what the men were doing.

Bailar did however have good times when competing as female, the thing that initially got her into Harvard. She was recruited for the women’s swim team, flaked out after graduating high school, and took a year’s deferral so she could get in patient treatment for an eating disorder. It was while she was getting therapy for her ED that she trooned out.
