I think deep down even Nick realized that Beardson made a really stupidly big deal out of the 'AQ' (probably originated as a shitpost on Twitter but leave it to AFags to take the internet as srs bizness) and so to shut people up. He gave a really lukewarm take on it to shut everyone up since he's their internet daddy and whatever he says they'll just take it and accept it as gospel, but he also apparently can't disagree with Beardson too much? It's kinda weird who really is up on the AF hierarchy.
