There are a number of possibilities. One is the purchasers are just absolute morons. Another is they realize the site and its users are completely worthless subhumans, but just want to buy it out because these freaks spend all their time trying to damage the products they sell. Another is it's a deliberately losing purchase so they can establish a corporate monopoly over the whole "gaming forum" market, and don't really care if they fuck up one or more of the forums while doing that. Once they have that, and have integrated this into the rest of their network, they can decide which chunks of the userbase can be peacefully sunsetted.
