Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

I honestly wouldn't be surprised Pelosi's getting out while the going's still good (on paper). The DNC is getting reamed left and right and I bet she doesn't want to be left holding the bag come midterms.
Even if she is wanting to resign, she's apparently making Build Back Better passing a requirement for that to happen. Which... probably isn't ever going to happen.

A number of replies are parroting "Powell had cancer!" even though Cain also had cancer or Cain chose to be unvaccinated when public distribution had been made available at the time of his death. And a lot of the comments are proving this guy's point.

Yep already watching the spin. He has cancer which prevents the vax from working! Then why is everyone required to be vaxxed regardless of medical history?

I wish i still had a reddit account to make that.

The scary thing is that I've seen people use Colin Powell's death as an argument for mandates because COVID is still deadly.

Umm, no offense, but not only was he vaccinated, but he was 84. Colin probably died less from COVID (if he even did at all, let's be real), than he did from "being 84 years old."

Not only did he exceed the average life expectancy by 10 years, but he exceeded the average life expectancy of a black man by 15-20 years.
Honeslty either why Powell was the orginal Rino to conservatives before Trump came.

Biden team asks Supreme Court to pause Texas abortion law

The Biden administration is asking the Supreme Court to block the Texas law banning most abortions, while the fight over the measure's constitutionality plays out in the courts.

The law has been in effect since September, aside from a district court-ordered pause that lasted just 48 hours, and bans abortions once cardiac activity is detected, usually around six weeks and before some women know they are pregnant.

The Justice Department asked the high court Monday to lift an order imposed by a conservative federal appeals court that has allowed Texas to continue enforcing the nation's strictest curbs on abortion through a novel law that was written to make it hard to challenge in the federal court system. The department had announced its intentions last Friday.

The Texas law defies the Supreme Court's major decisions on abortion rights “by banning abortion long before viability -- indeed, before many women even realize they are pregnant,” the Justice Department wrote in its plea to the court.

“The question now is whether Texas’ nullification of this Court’s precedents should be allowed to continue while the courts consider the United States’ suit. As the district court recognized, it should not,” the Justice Department wrote.

The administration also raised the prospect that the court could decide to grant full review to the Texas law and rule on its constitutionality this term, even though lower courts have yet to do so. The Supreme Court rarely steps in this early in a lawsuit.

The Texas law and the possibility that other states could adopt similar measures justify the court's early involvement, the administration said.

The high court ordered Texas to respond by midday Thursday.

It's not clear whether the administration will prevail at a Supreme Court with a conservative majority that has been fortified by three appointees of former President Donald Trump and already has agreed to hear a major challenge to abortion rights in a case from Mississippi.

The Trump appointees, joined by two other conservatives, have once before rejected a plea to keep the law on hold, in a separate lawsuit filed by abortion providers. There was no immediate timetable for Supreme Court action on this latest motion.

While courts have blocked other state laws effectively banning abortion before a fetus can survive outside the womb, roughly around 24 weeks, the Texas law has so far avoided a similar fate because of its unique structure that leaves enforcement up to private citizens, rather than state officials. Anyone who brings a successful lawsuit against an abortion provider for violating the law is entitled to claim at least $10,000 in damages.

In the 5-4 vote last month to allow the law to remain in effect, the high court acknowledged in an unsigned order that there were “serious questions regarding the constitutionality of the Texas law” but also “complex and novel” procedural questions about whom to sue and whether federal courts had the power to stop the law from being enforced.

In a dissenting opinion, Chief Justice John Roberts wrote that he would have put the “unprecedented” law on hold so that court could consider “whether a state can avoid responsibility for its laws” by handing off enforcement. The court’s three liberal justices also dissented.

The question now is whether the administration’s presence in the new lawsuit will make a difference. A three-judge panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals provided its answer late Thursday, extending its earlier order that allows the law to remain in effect. In a 2-1 vote, the court said it was siding with Texas for the same reasons the Supreme Court and a different 5th Circuit panel cited in the providers’ lawsuit — questioning whether anyone could march into federal court to challenge the law.

Texas sought help from the appeals court after U.S. District Judge Robert Pitman ruled that the Justice Department did have the ability to sue and that he had the authority to stop the law from being enforced, writing that “women have been unlawfully prevented from exercising control over their lives in ways that are protected by the Constitution.”

The judge conceded, however, that “other courts may find a way to avoid this conclusion.”

I would love it if the Superme Court sides with Texas. Just to say fuck you to Biden again

I get that the majority of you remember Colin Powell from the disastrous opening of the Iraq War (something he at least had the good graces to resign over, unlike the current crop of assholes) and the whole yellow-cake and 'mobile chemical weapons labs'.

Part of you need to remember who passed him that data: The CIA and FBI. Two organizations that he trusted (more the fool him).

BUT...

He's also the reason in Desert Storm we got the fuck in and got the fuck out. The Powell Doctrine was the new hotness in warfare circles.

Wanna know why he was left to hang out to dry, pushed to resign, and then never had anything to do with Afghanistan or Iraq afterwards?

Because he knew what he was fucking doing and would have spoiled it all for Rumsfeld, Bush, Cheney, and Ashcroft.

You can bitch and moan about yellow cake and mobile labs, but to be honest, if he'd been Sec-Def instead of Rumsfeld, if he hadn't have ruined Cheney's shit in 91, the war would have been fought a lot different.

None of the top generals in the War on Terror or that we have now, INCLUDING MATTIS, were half the fucking man Powell was.

The proof is basic:

Desert Storm: 90+ hours. Victory.

GWoT: 20 years. Defeat.

and the whole yellow-cake and 'mobile chemical weapons labs'.
Man likes a particular cake and people want to rag on him for that?

McAuliffe is in very real danger of losing the VA Governor race and honestly I think Murphy in NJ is not sailing quite as safely to victory as the media makes out.

In June I think 51% of people said they were definitely voting for him in a poll of 550 ish.

That number slipped.

I seriously doubt NJ is going to go red but in a state where there are 1 million more dems registered it would be very alarming to me that at the peak 51% in a very questionable survey said they were voting for our man.

Biden has been an unmitigated disaster for the US and even more of one for the DNC. Harris is out breaking laws to try and save a Governor's race and may have cost churches their exemption which should really stir the vote!

It's clear as day to me that the majority of what this Administration and subordinate leftists in government have been doing is desperately trying to provoke a hostile reaction so they have an excuse to call in the UN troops and seize guns pre-dawn.
Regardless, it is going to happen one way or another and thus I have sworn to survive long enough to see all these creatures exterminated by either the actual Communist power structure or the 0.001% chance the "patriots are in control."

That's not going to happen legitimately, not until 2022 passes and the election results are tallied up.

They will try something, but their false flag credit is in the red and there's not many ways they can go besides a full doomday. I pray to god it all works out.

Speaking of cultists, here's a fun take on Powell's death.
View attachment 2636791

They unironically think Republicans killed Powell to fight the SCIENCE.

Also, Simping for Powell after he lied about Iraq WMDs to get us in the Iraq War. Pathetic.
The revisionism of W's reign and sentiment about him just because orange man blew them out of the water is amazing to watch. The same people who 20 years ago would call him a war criminal are now heaping praise on him and his administration.

Good luck to the UN. Let's take guns away while using guns. Removing guns by force is gonna be long and bloody. Also, no invader has sucessfully invaded the mainland US. Last time was 1812 when the nation was still young.

The UN army numbers less than 100k. If we’re being conservative and say that just 5% of the US population is willing to defend their right to bear arms with said arms, that’s 15 million people.

As you say… good luck to them indeed.

Not even in the realm of plausible, luckily - The UN has no military nor ability to force a deployment. The UN instead declares a mission, and volunteer forces from UN members can join that mission. Name one country crazy enough to volunteer troops to try and disarm Americans. Even NK wouldn't be fanatical enough to try and pull that shit. Any attempted UN mandate would die on the vine, nobody would take up the mission.

Even right now, there's barely 70k or so Blue Helmets out there, and the UN doesn't have the authority to redeploy them to the US - The parent military of the soldiers would still have to approve the move. Even if they said yes, 70k would be decimated just going door to door in a single red city, much less the state, and there wouldn't even be survivors to try the next red state after that. And that assuming the UN is cucked enough to accept a mandate to violate a security council members constitution (Even if they asked for it).

Muh UN peacekeepers is such a meme. What, are all 70,000 UN peacekeepers (most of whom are from shithole countries like Bangladesh and Ethiopia) gonna be deployed to suppress the hundreds of millions of gun owners?

For me, an accelerationist has to believe that the short term pain will bring about the long term healing. Give people so much democrats that nearly everyone will turn on them. APC just seemed spiteful and resentful. That's not accelerationism, that's sour grapes.
The problem with accelerationism is that it requires the opposition to be so fucking brain dead that they won't IMMEDIATELY exploit the other side laying down to make it impossible to remove them from power, along with the fact that it also assumes that the masses will rise up EVENTUALLY before that happens, for a massive day of the rope style purge of the left.

In reality, the left ARE exploiting the crisis to basically make it so they can never be removed from elected office via actual elections while the masses are still fucking cowed and complacent and thinking that no matter how bad shit happens, it will never happen to them in their small town enclaves and red state sanctuaries and as such, don't have the balls to rise up.

They would die. The first time they tried to lock down a project or neighborhood in NYC they would lose 2-3k soldiers.

And most of the ones who weren't killed/wounded would disappear, to live here illegally.

Such a move would instantly unite the vast majority of Americans. Those supporting the UN invasion would be considered traitors and dealt with summarily.
