Should the title be re-worded to expand the scope of the thread?

The major problem in the Us would be who transports the raw food and who processes the food. From what I understand is that those jobs are in high demand but have few takers. So if no one produces food despite an abundance of raw material you might get a "famine". Heck I have read about pig farmers who couldn't sell their pigs because the meat processing companies didn't have the capacities to actually make meat due to Covid restrictions
True. Rose Pork Brains in Milk Gravy still isn’t back on the shelves yet. I’m down to my last 12 cans

Montreal is probably technically like 995 miles away. If you want to measure from there in a circle on Google maps you could probably figure my approximate location if you really want too. Not like it's a secret. It is an island, but not Greenland.

*Edit* Fuck it. I don't want to derail the thread with a guessing game.

Apparently the 9th most isolated city with a population of over 100,000 in the world. TIL

Smallest one on the list too. Barely qualifies.
'1000 Miles From Montreal' sounds like the worst NWA album ever.

Sounds fucking cold. Don't kill yourself.

And yet they do it all the time in the military, ag, and other businesses. I learned to drive truck at 12 shuffling trailers around the family business. Plenty of kids learn to drive massive rigs for the family farm, and the military is more then happy to teach 18 year olds to drive tank transporters which are the equivalent of the oversized load lowboys.
And, well, it's Patterson, they're probably going to be driving farm and ag trucks anyway for a little while at least. Not like their first job is going to be hauling containers out of LA. Although they will be going up and down I-5 in whatever they end up in.

I-405 is cruel and unusual punishment.

Hey, on topic, I'm at a refrigerated dock in a food distribution center. I've been standing at the door freezing my tits off for an hour and a half because there's so much product jammed in here I can't shove mine in.

Judging from how many forklifts are sitting idle, I think they must be having hiring problems.

FYI...the main highway handling the ports is the 710.

I'm gonna find you, eat your heart and then replace you. No one will be able to tell the difference.

I am going to put you in a dress and lock you in a room and rape you until you develop Stockholm syndrome and marry me and we will build a simple, but content, life together. We'll have movie night every Wednesday where we pick up a bag of chips and a 2 litre chocolate milk from the gas station and watch old movies and it'll be the thing we look forward to every week. Then I am going to divorce you and start dating a hot 23-year-old and she's going to post all the shit we do together like hiking and going to the farmer's market publicly on Facebook, and I'll comment "I've never been this happy, I love you" on all her posts so you get all depressed and shit and have to go to therapy and go on meds and shit just to get through the day. Then every 5-6 years I'm going to waltz back into your life, fuck you a few times and ghost you just to undo all the progress you make and you're just stuck in this cycle of depression but you don't have the will to kill yourself because I might come back for good one day and then you'll be happy again.

Gas prices continue to go up. This wouldn't be a big deal if I lived in the city. But where I live, everything is at least a 20 minute drive away. This really sucks.

Went to local Walmart today to buy soup and cereal. Very sparse soup and bean aisle. Also, can confirm that the beer shortage has hit my local walmart, I've never seen the beer section so empty before, not even before major beer drinking holidays.

I'm really starting to stress out. If prices keep going up, then I really will need a 2nd job just to afford gas. I'm getting 2008 PTSD flashbacks. Anyone remember how high the gas prices got, and how people were literally siphoning gas from cars? Lord, I can't go through that shit again.

The solution to the supply chain crisis: Get Vaccinated you plebs!
that doesnt help. everything is fucked. everybody at work is vacced and same for our suppliers and services, but the whole chain is fucked beyond beliefe and the gas prices are killing every possible profits. the whole factory is working at 10% of normal output because the storages are full. nobody is buying because they can sell what they make from our chemicals.
Exports are down by alot and new investments are all put on hold because of shortages.

China is fucked, vietnam is fucked, japan is fucked, korea is fucked and we just dont have anybody who buys our product. german chemical industries roared back early this year, but now its all fucked up again.

"While a shortage of semiconductors has plagued the global auto automotive industry this year, the market is now turning its focus to magnesium, a hardening agent of aluminum. Such a shortage could paralyze the aluminum billet production used to make engine blocks, gearboxes, frames, body panels, and rims, among other critical items for automobiles in Europe and the Americas."

Wasn't someone ITT hypothesizing that the empty shelves were a result of aluminum and magnesium shortages?
