What’s going on in Britain that people are clamoring to hear three trannies discuss and make fun of James Bond? I would think there’d be several Siskel and Ebert type podcasts that would be of more interest?

Off the top of my head The Empire Film Podcast is the biggest film podcast in Britain, because it's the official podcast of The Empire magazine - a British film magazine that has had people like Steven Spielberg as guest editors. Even if you're specifying "not official magazine podcasts" you're still going to run into stuff like "Kermode on Film" (Mark Kermode is arguably the most famous film critic in Britain) or Mike Muncer's "The Evolution of Horror" (he produces the BBC's "Inside Cinema" series) - but ok, they're professional film critics (and Kermode on Film features recordings from his monthly panel show at the British Film Institute).

So maybe he's saying that Kill James Bond is the biggest amateur film podcast in Britain? Well you've still got Films To Be Buried With with Brett Goldstein, an English actor. But I think he's based in America (it's certainly heavily subscribed to here) and he has celebrity guests on.

Maybe he's got the most globally listened British-made amateur film podcast that doesn't have special guests or an interview format and is just people talking, maybe. I don't think he can know that. I've never heard any cinephile friends mention "Kill James Bond". Film podcasts of that variety tend to be a niche podcast audience (e.g. "Verbal Diorama" with Em McGowan) and there's plenty of international podcasters for people interested in cinema. You certainly won't see "Kill James Bond" mentioned in any list of British film podcasts. I don't get anything out of these comedy bro chaos noise podcasts, but based on no evidence at all I'd guess that the patrons are mostly lonely guys. Who else would pay for audio tracks that are ~30% other people's laughter? The appeal is not the content of the podcast, but the mood: being surrounded by a gang of back-slapping, joke-cracking, Twitter famous friends. If you want friends like that but lack them, you might get something out of the noise.

It's been mentioned before in this thread, but again: fascinating how trans women slip right into the bro noise, while not one of Alice's podcasts has a single female host.

NPD NPD. Reminds me so much of my old horrible ladder climbing sociopath boss. Uncanny behaviours. The faux humility. Makes my skin crawl.

Also what the fuck was the weird story about how Olly has “maintained” his voice and can now “still do both” like….. you mean your natural voice and your affected voice? Since when would your natural voice just disappear if you start purposely using your upper register as your speaking voice. I don’t think your voice magically disappears if you start intentionally speaking a different way……

maybe it starts to feel more routine to do the falsetto voice rather than strained with more practice but who the fuck would believe that you have switched voices entirely? Like it’s just common knowledge that this is true. Testosterone changes your voice and de transitioners have deeper voices PERMANENTLY. Estrogen does not change your voice. Once you have a man voice, you have a man voice. But somehow olly wants us to believe that if not for his hard work as a skilled actress, he would …no longer have his permanent man voice? This is nauseating even though I didn't listen to it.

Barring any medical or physical reasons, anyone can change their voice and maintain that change. It just takes some practice and some coaching. Someone who's been to drama school and worked with voice coaches would have any easy time of it. In fact, any actor worth their salt can do it.

And like having being able to perform in a variety of way, even only vocally, is just having range as an actor. That's not unique. It's part of the damn job.


As far as Lindsay goes, it wouldn't surprise me if they singed a contract locking PT in for this series of books with agreements to promote the work (or each other's work.) They were all close before bread tube started imploding, but Lindsay and Contra always seemed much closer. I have no doubt Lindsay would firmly on Contra's side even if she still maintained a professionally neutral relationship with PT otherwise.
