I don't wanna derail the best laugh at troons thread with hierosperging, but the universities are about as Catholic as Joe Biden is or John McCain was - i.e. in name only. Been like that for decades. Looks like the parochial schools are slightly more serious, in Michigan at least, tho just a few years ago the idea that children shouldn't be "transitioning" and schools shouldn't be "supporting" that would've been bare minimum common sense instead of some kind of theological point of contention.

I don't care enough about the protest to check how many true and honest troons were there, but if Munchie Mom actually cared about her supposed faith, or her son, she wouldn't be encouraging him to become a sterile, mutilated freak. Jesus had some pretty tough words for people who do wrong by children. All the mainline Christian denominations are beset by people like that tho, claiming to be Christians, while demanding holy writ be rewritten to suit the latest hashtags on Twitter. Even the Baptists are being targeted with this shit, and historically they used to be one of the least woke groups. It doesn't often get the same kind of attention as a comedy show on Netflix tho.

I get get same vibe from the troons protesting Chapelle, that I got from religious conservatives bitching about "the war on christmas" just because Starbucks was removing the Christmas tree from their cups. Same behavior, different mask.

Source of a troon getting triggered? That sounds hilarious!

They don't like you to use transman or transwoman because it's a noun , so it implies they are separate from a man or a woman. They want the space so trans is treated like an adjective. To them trans man is the same as saying a tall man, you're just describing a man.

I don't have the post but I once saw it being called racist to not include the space because it goes back to people saying "Chinaman"

My bad, so many things are offensive/literally responsible for the trans murder rate I get confused sometimes.

Boris Johnson has made a significant intervention in the debate over trans rights by praising a charity that has attracted controversy.
The prime minister endorsed freedom of speech for academics after a professor at Sussex University pulled out of a conference amid fears for her safety.
He championed the event being organised in London by the LGB Alliance as “truly momentous” despite angry protests from trans campaigners outside. He said the conference was “ground-breaking” as he praised the “incredible hard work” of the alliance.

The LGB Alliance was set up two years ago by campaigners concerned about the pro-trans stance of Stonewall, the largest LGBT rights organisation in Europe.
Kathleen Stock, a philosophy professor and a trustee of the LGB Alliance, was due to appear at the charity’s conference today but was forced to withdraw after a campaign by students to get her sacked from her position at Sussex University.

In recent weeks, students in balaclavas have carried banners around Brighton reading “Stock Out”.
Stock has previously argued that institutions should not prioritise gender identity over sex and said she does not believe in reform of the Gender Recognition Act to allow self-identification. She was made a trustee of the LGB Alliance earlier this year.

Government sources described the protests against Stock as “corrosive to democracy and fundamentally illiberal”.

She said that she feared her career was “effectively ended” after the Sussex branch of the University and College Union called for an investigation into transphobia at the university following the protests.

Government sources described the student protests as “corrosive to democracy and fundamentally illiberal”.
A source said: “The Kathleen Stock situation is dreadful. We back freedom of speech to the hilt. This sort of cancel culture is corrosive to democracy and fundamentally illiberal.”

Last week Labour appeared to criticise Stock when a shadow equalities minister wrote to a constituent saying that she was “greatly concerned” by the philosophy professor’s work as a trustee of the LGB Alliance.

Taiwo Owatemi said the group “should be rejected by all those who believe in equality”. She subsequently insisted that she was not calling for Stock to be sacked.

In a letter sent on the prime minister’s behalf today, Johnson apologised to the organisers of the LGB Alliance conference that he would not be able to attend but defended the group’s right to host the event.

“The prime minister is delighted to learn of this ground-breaking event and is aware of what a truly momentous occasion this will be,” the letter said.
“Unfortunately, as I hope you will understand, it will not be possible for the prime minister to attend, due to pressure on his diary. However, on his behalf, I would like to thank the LGB Alliance for this incredible hard work and send my best wishes for a successful conference.”

The presence of the LGB Alliance at the Conservative conference earlier this month sparked an internal row in the party.

Carrie Johnson, the prime minister’s wife, delivered a speech at a rival event hosted by the LGBT+ Conservatives in partnership with Stonewall, where campaigners attacked the decision to allow the LGB Alliance to set up a stall at the conference. They argued that “trans people’s rights to exist is not a topic that is up for discussion”.

The University of Sussex reiterated its support for Stock yesterday, saying it would not tolerate discrimination against her on the basis of her gender-critical views.

In a statement, the University said: “Over the past two weeks, the University of Sussex has vigorously and unequivocally defended Professor Kathleen Stock’s right to exercise her academic freedom and lawful freedom of speech. These freedoms apply to and benefit us all.”

“A vital part of a healthy University community is the ability to discuss, debate and respectfully disagree with a wide range of views and beliefs.”

“The University cannot and will not tolerate discrimination based on protected characteristics, including sex and philosophical belief, and we will take action through our policies and procedures if this happens.”
