Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

It makes a bit more sense when you realize being a politician is a -very- thankless job. Everyone, even your friends and family. just assume you are corrupt and treat you like shit, the three-letter agencies are constantly spying on you, in particular, to get dirt on you, and everyone below you is just waiting for the chance to sink the knife in and take your job. The positive feedback loop Twitter represent is very tempting.

It -legitimately- is just wanting power for the sake of power. Every internal leak, talk with analysts, and action they take is just "We want power, we have no idea to what end, we -just want power-". Keep in mind, a lot of these people running it was the nerds in high school who got viciously picked on. Basically every single one that talks about their early life says as much. So the idea of just -having- power is incredibly alluring.

Yeah, I understand that, although you'd need some very strong evidence to persuade me a politician isn't corrupt, especially if they're family. But it seems as though the main joke went over your head...

And they think that the reason that Stacey/Chad isn't flocking to them, everyone isn't buffing their asshole with their tongue, and they aren't rich and super-famous where people throw flowers where they walk and they're never criticised, is because they just don't have quite enough power.

I've seen it more than once.

"They beat me up in high school, so I got power. But then they ignored me. So I got more power. Then they got married and had kids and had a good life and acted like I didn't exist, so I got MORE power! When I found out that people didn't universally unconditionally love me, I got EVEN MORE power! But they still act like I'm a fat smelly piece of shit mouthbreather with bad breath. I just need a little MORE POWER and then I'll be perfect and they'll all feel bad they aren't me!"

I tend to be rather humorless when on work hours, so yes it went over my head. Hard to remember jokes exist when you are busy living in one.

NYT tried to have them declared a source of misinformayshun, but backed off after the Bee took legal action. And some bitch at the Atlantic recently interviewed Kyle Mann, seething at how he dares to mock his betters.
