Because TPTB in most clown world states have worked out the point of the exercise is to cement fear/paranoia and divide the population for even more control. Doesn't matter how logically inconsistent things are, if you look at it this way then it makes sense.
If the msm screams about there being a 1000 cases today people freak out. Where as in reality there may be 10 in hospital and maybe 1 in ICU where no one would rightly give a shit. If msm claim everyone is going do die and the only way to escape this fate is to get VACUNATED then the govt can blackmail the country into doing what they want, even if literal reality contradicts them.

easiest to point that out is check vaccination rate vs herd immunity (remember when that was a talking point last year for a week or two?). if it's close or slightly below it (because natural immunization from people that had it), there's really no point (inb4 muh intensive care beds) unless they think they can "defeat" a corona virus.
that's just another narrative tho. over here we are at around 65% vaccination rate + people who had it, meaning herd immunity should have kicked in by now. however apparently 90% of people in intensive care are unvaxxed and they're now kvetching about beds again, what makes me wonder how he math is supposed to add up when even during the height of each wave way more people had it and still hospitals were never completely full, but now suddenly it's filled to the brim with the what, ~27% of unvaxxed people which is way less unvaxxed in the whole population compared to back then?

Yeah, I was wondering that. Some months ago they announced here that they'll mainly focus on ICU rates now because thanks to the vax the infection numbers /positive tests are not really useful numbers anymore.
And now they're back with reporting every slight uptick in infection rates and trying to get people to panic again. Oh hey, there's the reason.
The worst is, I see Branch Covidians flaunting articles about Romania now. "Record numbers, super low vaccination rates! See what happens when you don't get the jab???"
Completely ignoring all the countries with super high vaccination rates and record numbers as well.

No one I know cares about how none of this makes sense. No one I know cares about the censorship and lies surrounding all of this. I'd sent a couple of my friends that post on r/NoNewNormal about issues with the vaccine the same day the subreddit got nuked. They read through it, some parts of it seemed to get through to them. And when the subreddit got nuked, I told them to check the link out again, so they could see for themselves the censorship in real-time. They didn't make anything of it, other than it was probably necessary as the subreddit was promoting misinformation which is dangerous and kills people. And now they've seemingly forgotten all of the points made in that post too.
I feel so crazy, I just wish I knew someone IRL who could see sense. Instead, I get told I'm embarrassing myself when I talk about this, I'm embarrassing other people, I 'need an intervention' (for my wrongthink I guess), I'm selfish for not getting a 'little jab', that my sudden switch to 'right-wing extremist views' is alarming and worrying my family.
I don't give a fuck about any of that, the intervention thing made me laugh, but damn I would be happy if there were a single person I knew IRL who saw through the lies and bullshit. I think I'll be on the lookout for protests. Those people are out there, just no one I know.

It's the part about how "these viruses are only 96-97% identical genetically, and we're 96% identical genetically to CHIMPANZEES, from whom we diverged 6 million years ago!"
This isn't just misleading, it almost has to be consciously misleading.
These aren't remotely comparable because first of all, viruses are far more likely to mutate in a given generation, and perhaps even more importantly, the generation length is (you may have noticed) drastically different between you and a coronavirus.
Humans and chimps had a common ancestor about 300,000 generations ago.
A coronavirus can infect one host, make them infectious, and move into a new host after having replicated in that host in a couple of days. During that time, the virus has had the chance to replicate billions of times and could mutate during any of those. Humans take about 20 years to reproduce a generation, and they reproduce a handful of times, with better controls on replication that ensure most mutations never see the light of day.
In a laboratory where viruses are intentionally having mutations cultivated and supported, it's even faster to make these divergences happen (especially if you're, say, inserting material from another virus). The people writing this letter knew how disingenuous they were being, and they said it smugly, like people who felt they'd never be called out.
