I have to agree with cheels on this one, I remember watching that video and there are so many things TRO fails to mention to keep the idea of "Awkward shy boy who made some mistakes and wasn't ready for the limelight but is still redeemable" like his treatment of his audience any time something was said that he didn't like, shitty stolen assets, and all the creepy coomer shit he still gets up to currently. I usually find his videos to be fairly informative but I feel like he didn't care as much with this one, its particularly noticeable because his guest host goes HARD on alex given that he's sufficiently knowledgeable about all the spergy shit he's done. No one is saying Alex deserves to die like some of the kids on reddit, but come on, he's been given many chances to redeem himself even before that video was made and even then we all knew he was full of shit and clearly proud of it. The thing that grates on me the most about his exceptional roleplay excuse is that it was a way to avoid having to put work into making characters.

Alex said Akademi would have stricter uniform policies in the 80s and so it'd be more realistic with no more stupid anime hair. Almost all schoolgirls in Japan in the 80s would have had natural straight black hair, either long or in a bobbed, potentially in braids, pigtails or a ponytail (you know, like any schoolgirl).

Older students might have had more leeway with hairstyles so you might have seen waved/styled hair. Since it was the 80s this would have included some 80s hairstyles

He literally wrote the most autistic school newspaper ever (why would a student journalist explain to a bunch of adults pretending to be schoolkids that they are a bunch of adults pretending to be schoolkids) and couldn't take the time to make the ludicrous concept internally logically consistent.

Fixes and Changes

• From now on, whenever the player talks to a student about a subject (while socializing, gossiping, etc), the player will “learn” that student’s opinion about that subject (meaning that their feelings about the subject – positive, negative, neutral – will appear as an icon next to that subject in the future).
• The “Pool’s Closed” sign will now cause everyone except Ritsuko to stop sunbathing at the pool, because Ritsuko is the only person selfish enough to do whatever she wants, even if a sign is telling her not to. (She also says a line of dialogue about the sign while she’s settling into her pool chair.)
• Previously, the manga in 202X and 1980s Mode shared the same descriptions, despite being completely different stories from different time periods. The manga in Ryoba’s time period now have unique descriptions (when viewed from inside her home).
• All of Ryoba’s kidnapped victims will now wear a blindfold, because it’s possible for them to return to school (after their parents pay ransom money to the Yakuza) and Ryoba wouldn’t want them to know who kidnapped them.
• Fixed bug that caused the wrong line of text to display during the court sequence when revising the details of a character’s death if that character had taken their own life.
• Fixed bug that would prevent the game from saving the player’s reputation if the day ended through any method other than using the “pink portal” to go home.
• There were some photographs of 202X Kocho inside of 1989 Kocho’s office. Two of these are now replaced, although I still need to replace another one.
• Fixed bug that caused the Yakuza to pay the player $200 for a student who was supposed to be worth $2000.

Also, Alex should've never went on justifying this "all characters are 18" bullshit. I get why he needs it, to get rid of speds who call him pedo and to potentially apease Big Brother Twitch. But ffs, he is making a game based on every garbage anime trope under the sun, and he is ready to throw out one of the cornerstone tropes and make insane justifications, just because he doesn't want to cut out pantyshot-related shit, which is also a trope, but at least it won't crumble the entire setting. If he wants his anime-inspired game to be taken "serious" he should understand that compromises are needed to be made. If he is not taking "serious" route and just want make funny game with fanservice-thrash-anime aesthetics, he can also do that, all power to him, but in that case, he should understand that normies and big companies will probably reject the game due to conformism and you will have to rely solely on people's support and word of the mouth.
Still, I don't get what he really wants. It's like he aims to make a serious project, but also wants it to be fun and trashy as hell, despite theese two things not going well together for him, I guess japaneese can get away with shit like this in their own natural habitat, but outside japan it's super hard to pull off.
