I genuinely think he stole his landlord's credit card and got found out and booted. Remember someone else on this thread discovered that Sotiros Macromallis is a landlord in Burbank. I reckon Shad somehow got hold of his card and used it before Macromallis could cancel it (hence why Shad then bent it up: it was useless).
Macromallis kicked the little shit out or he threatened to get the cops and so Shad bailed.
I think Mick's too much of a bleeding heart feel good positive guy for his own good. Probably had a good impression of Shad when they were all living and working close together. You can't really up and go "yeah I love fucking kids" out in the open, even if your co-worker is some degenerate called Spazkid. Plus, he probably thought Shad would just stay at that moderate level of degeneracy, or maybe he could steer him away from it. Either way, as much as I admire his work ethic, some people just won't change and there's no helping them.
Lauer was cheated on by his ex-wife for
two straight years - he's not the best judge of character and seems to be oblivious to the flaws of those he loves.
He also still has the little-fat-boy mindset in that he feels unworthy of love or affection, so anyone who shows him kindness and offers him companionship is immediately someone whom he will devote himself mindlessly to.
Plus Shad fed him so much bullshit over the years of what a good person Shad is that Mick doesn't believe that his dear, sweet friend could do any wrong - that's why he brings up that story Shad told him about helping a little old lady walk three blocks to a cinema, despite never
seeing the lady himself - thing is, narcissist’s make up shit to make themselves look good all the time - but Mick ate it right up.
I think the straw that finally broke Mick was Shad fucking up his own career at the animation studio (can’t remember the name of it, someone remind me? Edit: went all the way back to page 10 & found it was Cartoon Network) he used to work at. I believe that after Shaddai Prejean’s name got doxed either his boss there, or a co-worker, actually started looking into his history, found his link to Shadman and then found all the Mia Keem and Dafne Keen shit and realised the guy was a walking PR disaster for a children’s animation company (or a lawsuit they could be dragged into, since he worked for them), and they promptly shitcanned him.
That might’ve been the wake-up call for Mick, who is trying to become successful in his career as an actor, and who finally saw Shadman for the semi-retarded albatross around his neck.

Shad has no job, no Patreon (in a stream around mid-late 2018, he told Stamper and Niall he shut his account down - it's far more likely he got cancelled because of the kiddie-porn, but he had to protect his ego); so unless he's got funds coming in elsewhere he's maybe got a bit of funds left from the Bella commision he did, but not enough to keep paying for A305, 303 East Elmwood, let alone this new place.
From what I recall, Jeff is very direct with who he hates and he always kept Shad in his sights. The thing that shocks me about Jeff is that he's been tolerating Stamper's drug addiction for years but I guess sometimes someone needs to disappoint you enough to finally cut contact.
I think Jeff feels sympathy for Stamper because he sees Stamper as a man haunted and tormented by his past and can't bring himself to abandon him. Remember: Jeff sees himself as a 'Protector' - especially when it comes to kids - and Stamper probably told Jeff what Sean (the "friend of the family" who Stamper finally named in a community post on his Youtube account) did to him when Stamper was just a little boy.
Given how much Jeff hates pedos, the fact that Stamper fell victim to one as a child might be enough to make Jeff want to protect Stamper now, since he couldn't protect little William back then.
