Honestly, I don't think you need to blame diversity for this one. At least not entirely. It's definitely the cover reason why they're doing it but not the real one.
The real reason is what I personally term "mediocrity" syndrome. It's when you have people rising to power which they do not deserve. So, in order to preserve their power, they would simply favour underlings which would not out-shine them in any way. Happens the most in a stratified bureaucracy where one can easily control the promotion of individuals, since they are entirely at the whim of the leader. The Arab world is long notorious for this, and from what I can tell, the DNC is also suffering from this post Clinton and Obama-era purges.
EDIT: Come to think of it, this phenomenon is probably just indicative of a malaise in a polity in general. When meritocracy is discarded in favour of tribal loyalties and nepotism.

Our nuke reactors themselves will probably be fine since America has always been anal about nuclear safety compared to the Soviets. The gospel truth. Have seen many Administrations and regimes, but until now could always count on some level of underlying competency. Joey's regime is the first that I consider to be totally incompetent. I could pick X number of American citizen KFers at random and get a far more functional Administration. You've heard all this before.
It isn't rocket science to successfully serve in a Cabinet post, or to be Chairman of the various Biden-appointed committees, etc. All you need is common sense, to be able to communicate, and to put the needs of the country and the American people first. Joey's lackeys fail utterly at the first and the third, and do well at the second, showing us how incompetent they are and how little they care about the American people.
"Secretary of Transportation" Buttbuddy is a prime example. We know all about his "paternity leave", when his buttbuddy didn't even splort those babies out. The two buttbuddies are fucking and sucking away while many US ports are overwhelmed with container ships and containers. Unprofessional to the max. A REAL Secretary of Transportation would put in several hours a day, minimum, from home working the problem. If that was me I'd go back to work, get the problem under control, than resume the "paternity leave". In Buttbuddy's case, have no idea what this sack of shit is doing except running his mouth and deflecting any blame. Just like Harris, seems Buttbuddy likes the title and the salary but really doesn't want to do the job.
The worst thing is Joey's entire regime is chock-full of such no-loads, and Joey doesn't even care. That's as fucked up as a football bat.

The pilot shortage has honestly been coming for a while if I recall. I remember researching back when I was younger and looking into becoming a pilot finding out that the current crop of Pilots aren't paid anywhere near what older gens used to be, especially given how moving up the command chain actually tends to make the hours easier, as in when you start you'll be flying regional jets all day to work up your flight hours before eventually getting onto longer flights where you can rest on or between them.
Alongside that everyone's also kind of feeling that automation is near enough that you won't last a full normal career before you start getting cut out. I mean autopilot already does most of the flying on commerical iirc.
I seem to recall seeing headlines of "the world is running out of pilots" by at least 2018, so while the supply chain collapse is certainly a part, it is certainly a long time coming.
