Yeah. As dramatic as their fall from grace has been, Digi's audience was so huge and fanatical that even if 99.99% of the people who cared about their work at one point have fallen off, they will probably always have a few dozen mega-fans who support everything they do. It does seem like a fair portion of the people who stuck around have some active connection with Digi, like Tarbuck, but it's going to be a long time before the parasocial cult-of-personality people disappear completely, if they ever do.

They literally became the absolute worst version of everything they claimed to hate. If I happened across this with no knowledge of who this person was, I'd assume it was just another aging Millennial fanboy who didn't really know much but had a lot of fun talking about recently-airing shows: not really impressive, but a fine hobby so long as you don't take it too seriously. At least before "Anime Alphabet" you saw the YGG shit first, now there's a constant stream of one-minute videos with cheap thumbnails crowding out the content they destroyed their channel for. What the fuck are they even doing?

This is what happens when you don't have a plan or stable identity (I don't really like that word, but I can't think of anything better). You spiral around contradicting yourself, making up justifications after the fact until the whole thing collapses into an incoherent mess. It's been just over two years since Digi posted "Goin' Underground", and in it (at about 9:00, might upload a clip later if it isn't on here yet) he goes into an extended rant about people needing a sense of purpose:

I could spend hours unpacking this, but it speaks for itself. Digi somehow believed (or at least pretended to believe) that unrestrained hedonism, a domestic life May, and full-time YouTubing were compatible with each other. They never addressed these internal contradictions by giving some desires up and prioritizing others; they just trucked along until things collapsed of their own accord. May abandoned him, then the Hedonism devoured his career; and now pleasure or pain in the present moment are the only criteria for making decisions. Him still refusing to accept trade-offs in the Oki video shows that he learned nothing and intends to do this again.

I used to admire Digi's resourcefulness; it was impressive that a social reject with nothing but a decent knowledge of anime managed to somehow spin that into a creative career; but that doesn't always work. Sometimes you have to go out into the world and get more shit to work with. Burning calories deciding which crypto to put your pocket change into is a moronic waste of time for someone who is unemployed; having Ben Saint and fucking Riley as the angel and devil on your shoulder is ridiculous when you could get better insight into your life by calling random people in the phonebook; and instead of trying to come off as an informed, knowledgeable person in your early 30s using only what you have learned from cartoons made by middle-aged sex offenders, maybe you should read a book every now and then?

But, creative use of what they already had is how Digi solved problems in the past, so they're going to keep neurotically rearranging fragments of their former life until the day they fucking die. They can't face the reality that it's not a matter of "hitting the right buttons"; they simply no longer have the resources they would need to be successful, or even interesting.

Others in this thread have admitted they are getting bored of this, and I don't think I'll be that far behind them. I got to say my piece and like the other burned fans, I really need to try and move on. Trashing Digi's new content helps to fill the VOID VOID VOID left by his channel, but you can only do that for so long and frankly it's getting sad. This thread has got me to rewatch some old videos lately, and being reminded of how passionate Digi used to be makes me realize I'm poking the corpse of something which used to be kind of cool, and that it doesn't come close to offsetting what was lost. Until/unless something interesting happens, I think it's time to quit giving a shit.

I'd have to agree; I continued to watch his old pre-troon videos up the beginning of this year, and then I just couldn't stomach hearing his nasally voice anymore after he insulted his own fans, the same ones that built him to where he was up to 2020, when he decided to destroy his career entirely by himself (with some assistance from May). I use to listen to his After Dark material in the background while playing a non-engrossing fps shooter, now I don't even do that anymore.

I solely enjoy seeing how hard Ben and his cord can seethe THIS time every time a Ygger even sneezes, that, and joshing on the whole thing with you guys. That, and I like archiving digital history.

I agree; it's pretty awful for Digi to attack Gibbontake like that, when she (along with Tom Oliver) defended Digi (and even Riley!) against Ben in regards to that shitty reshot Radcon idea the Yggers floated on that drama episode back in Spring. Everyday Digi turns even less and less redeemable. His remarks about Gibbon's voice "not passing" makes me wonder if he still listens back to his own work like he said he did during his Anituber Arc. Remember back when he was still with Amanda he wanted to start to practice drawing and he would make a daily vlog for them to listen to each day? That kind of stuff. Thus this entire remark towards Gibbon doesn't even hold any merit. Like he admitted, he said this with the express purpose to hurt Gib. We always knew he had a penchant of burning bridges; but always with motives and reason which he articulated.

Personally I think he is running out of copium. His attack on Gib showed something: he is projecting. He knows he doesn't pass for a woman. So he probably also knows how hard he fucked up. Now recognizing these "mistakes" or "other roads never traveled", it wouldn't surprise me if Digi has a deep fear of the future and keeps himself in a haze in the present using weed, strife with former friends and dependence on yes-men. He is doing everything he can to not have to look at the consequences of his actions. This is the silhouette of a person that will die with regret.

Personally, I feel a strong anger towards him for attacking Gib. Not because I want to support trans-rights (their community does that job well enough), nor because I think Gib is an amazing human being. Rather the sheer vindictiveness of his actions towards a person that is clearly much weaker. Digi always burned bridges, but this is back-stabbing. I find it hilarious that Digi attacks Ben and Gibbontake for their extreme-left views; Digi has now embraced the same Idpol bullshit he once laughed at, and he can't even be consistent with that within the same 24 hours. Ben may be a pronoun-obsessed commie but he at least is a consistent and principled one.

Really for the last six or so months this was all silly internet bullshit. What Digi did to Gibbon is just something no one with a proper moral compass can support, save his degenerate fiancée, his personal grifter Billy, the other Dick Show grifters (and any good feeling the internet held towards Dick has largely corroded over a year ago) and the few manic die-hard fans he has left, such as Napsy.

Shitting on Hippo/PCP as a whole is pretty low for Digi, genuinely surprised he went that far. It REALLY fucking is anyone who just doesn't kiss his ass who is an enemy to him. Hippo literally never badmouthed him. And my god do I even have to mention how hypocritical it is for digi to hate someone based off who they associate with?

This is what I meant with running out of copium. Why does he want to antagonize the few people he still has fond memories with? Hippo/Gib has always stayed professional after the split, even being kind of accepting of Digi lack of work ethic when it comes to the obligation made in the past (Radcon 4). This Asher fellow, I don't really know who he is aside from a Digi stan. Hell I was a Digi stan in the past because I agreed that most of anitube was a lazy hugbox. I woke up when he got with Amanda. It looked wholesome for a time and I was happy for him. And then the weird videos such as that neurotyping started. But the video that made it clear to me that he was losing his mind had a title something along the lines of "The wife is the little sister" or something. I don't remember. Soon after was the gender reveal party.

The "speedrunning getting banned" comment made me laugh though ngl, it made me think of Yandere-dev. Can someone call out the name he browsed Kiwifarms under in all caps please? It was something like Fugnug or something. If I'm calling out the wrong person I apologize in advance.
