I was watching a few of TT Exulansic's I Am Jazz videos and there is a scene after Jazz's SRS surgery first goes horribly wrong where Jazz's mother is crying and repeatedly saying "This wasn't supposed to happen, it was supposed to go well." It's as if in Jazz's mother's head, she and Jazz are the protagonists of reality, and they are the good guys and being trans is good, and that means they if they follow the rules of the cult they are supposed to get a happy ending.

Hence the utter disbelief that it didn't turn out like it was supposed to, i.e., it didn't follow a nice narrative arc with the characters getting what they want.

Weirdly, it reminds me a lot of QAnon people, who you will find saying things like "we are watching a movie" to reassure each other when the predictions fail for the 200th time. They have decided that they are the good guys, and in movies the good guys win, so reality simply has to conform to their desires. When reality doesn't do that, the cult members can't come out and say that, because magical thinking is an integral part of the cult and rejecting it means rejecting the cult. So they either shut up and delude themselves back into denial, or (rarely) leave.

Hence why almost none of the post-op troons can admit that their horribly failed surgeries were indeed failures. They can't make that leap because they are not in a healthy group that accepts reality. They'll be shunned if they go too far down that path and they will lose everything.

The paper describes how they have to make a sleeve of tissue that wraps around both the bone piece and the new urethra extension, like a tube, and then they wrap that entire construction with the flesh they take from the leg or arm to make the exterior of the pseudopenis. Maybe @sanguis draconis can identify those flecks/streaks?
