Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

It's a common tactic that was done again and again throughout the ages to diffuse political power. DIE initiatives were used to kill Occupy Wall Street and they are being used now to try and smother anti-globalist sentiment. (((They))) will do anything to prevent another slave revolt like in the 30s.
Nothing gonna stop what's coming to the world :optimistic:

As you can see with Manchin, you cannot in fact bribe your way to success in congress. Greased palms only matter to tip the balance of a narrow opinion, any sort of hard opposition will not be affected. Trump doesn't need a majority to scupper any sort of plans that he dislikes, he just needs enough to prevent a majority of voting -for- something.

Addendum: I actually want to rip into this more since it kinda annoys me.

1: This would require McConnell to directly move against a sitting president. Great way to just -burn- any political capital he has.
2: This would require McConnell to suddenly forget how congress works.
3: This would require Trump to do nothing against it at all.
4: it would require McConnell to, somehow as an individual not in the executive branch, have the money and capital to even attempt the bribe.

And I could keep going. In no way does this post begin to make sense as a possibility.
McConnell only cares about McConnell and the GOP keeping power in the Senate and the judiciary.

He white knighted and protected Trump purely to ensure the GOP built a firewall in the federal judiciary and get a majority on the Supreme Court that does not require Roberts to get a majority ruling for conservative rulings. And while he stabbed Trump in the back in the 2020 election, McConnell saved Trump's ass because he knew damn well that he fucked up and more to the point, the general vindictiveness of the Democrats that they would actually arrest active GOP congressmen on trumped up treason charges if they thought they could get away with it after January 6th put the fear in the DNC.

McConnell could conceivably fuck things up for Trump getting revenge on his enemies but then McConnell himself would probably be risking his own neck. Either McConnell's going to have to come up with his own plan to punish the people who fucked the GOP over in Trump's first term that Trump will back, or risk riots because the Revanchism issue is going to be the thing the GOP will be riding hard in 2024 and there will be increasing pressure for McConnell to shit or get off the pot.

These patriot post/boomer meme are fucking terrible, lol. Like the watermark alone, hot damn.

Patriot should hire some black twitter power users.

Maybe they just tax all "potential" earned income as well, as in they can look at ones career and come up with a formula to calculate the maximum they could earn in a "good year" then tax that amount. That sounds so wonderful and progressive.

Or maybe take it a step further and calculate everyone's income on if they were say a brain surgeon, then tax that amount even if someone is a fork lift driver.

None of the above is really any less offensive than "unrealized capital gains".
They already do that with alimony and child support.

If a man loses his job and gets a job with lower pay, he'll still have to pay alimony and child support at the old rates a lot of the time.

I don't know how true the story is, but a famous comedian named Dave Foley claimed 10 years ago that he couldn't even return to his home country because he would be arrested for failure to pay child support. The judge ruled against him that even though he was no longer working for his hit TV show that wasn't a good enough reason to reduce his child support. So his child support was higher than his income and the courts basically said "too fucking bad."

It's an extreme example but not a unique one.

Isn't Ritter a disgraced pedophile and a notorious grifter who keeps desperately trying to cling to his 15 minutes of fame when he openly denounced Bush II over the build-up to the Iraq War?
Yeah, he'll shill for whatever Russia or China want him to say and tries to brush off that he got Chris Hansened by acting like he was set up to punish him for dissent but the fact is that he had a seat over there.

You don't get wisdom like this every day, that's for sure.

(The thing that gets me is how sure he is of saying it, like it's entirely cogent to him. We sure he doesn't have that disease from ST: DS9 episode "Babel"?)

Reminds me of those lip-sync videos way back when on YouTube, where people would take political ads and dub over wacky nonsense that still works with the existing lip-flaps.

That being said, with my Ph.D in tard whispering, what I THINK he’s trying to say is “Time is money. As one commuter said, if you’re on the train and they say [the bridge is blocked], you better make other plans.”

I have no idea what the fuck “Portal Bridge” is supposed to be standing in for.

I think he was just throwing scenarios around

Your taking people saying "your making up what you do for a living". Surprisely well
Gehenna has been consistent in his "I'm just stating my informed opinions, take it as you will" stance. He has nothing to prove here; so it's not surprising.

I know he's speaking words, but what the fuck does these even mean?

I think it’d be funny if the watermark started getting used ironically on normal non-political memes. Like when the “Made with mematic” watermark became a meme or the “this meme was made by _______ gang” thing.

All I can think of is Portal Bridge, a rail bridge owned by Amtrak. It's located next to NYC and is apparently the busiest train span in the Western Hemisphere. A couple weeks ago the NJ Transit board awarded $1.5 billion to replace the bridge, so my best guess is that Biden was trying to say what you theorized and while he was mid-sentence he remembered someone around him talking about that bridge or whatever. Or maybe he just knows it himself.

I thought he was trying to make some folksy reference about Ol' Joe from Scranton riding the train to work every day and some wires got crossed, in the way you're referring to makes sense.

I did feel a bit skeptical about that answer because it's not a part of his Delaware to D.C. route. However, 1) Biden has been known to take an interest in Amtrak's activities, 2) Amtrak officials have been complaining about that bridge since the mid-2000s, and 3) he was already thinking about Amtrak while giving that speech because he was telling a story about an Amtrak employee that's been proven false. So on further thought, it's a good enough explanation for me.
