Is there any known family history of El Goblino? I know Jill is the product of fundie homeschooling, but how did goblino get involved in the fundie shit?

Oh, so maybe waiting until the very last second to take Nurie to the backwoods birth center - where there were no doctors - because Jill had to primp herself, and then dragging Nurie back home a few hours after giving birth so she could get back to entertaining her mother and sisters, and THEN not taking Nurie for any type of medical follow up was a series of shitty ideas? Ya think?
Edit: from the cushion under her, it looks like our musings that Nurie might develop hemorrhaging, or infection from untreated tears, came true.
I promised if Nathan showed any sign of being an unfeeling patriarchal asshole who doesn't give two shits about his wife's health as long as she breeds, I would call him out.
Today is that day.

She probably wouldn't have a "difficult healing process" if she was left the fuck alone to rest and heal like her body obviously fucking needs, you know, since it just gave birth. Which is hard on the body. Women aren't chickens, they don't just pop out an egg and head out to scratch around the yard straight after.
She also needs postpartum followup in case that is a uterine infection. They are common and most unpleasant but easily treated. But she will feel like shit and possibly become very unwell if she's not seen by someone who is actually medically trained.
Her mother and husband should be both very worried and utterly ashamed that a perviously healthy young woman has deteriorated after birth to the extent she apparently needs a wheelchair. That's long past "call the doctor" time. It might just be exhaustion and heavy bleeding but this is not a time to take chances.

The idea that Nathan is a good guy who is going to save Nurie from her terrible mother is clearly wishful thinking fanfiction. There's no evidence that he's any different from the rest of the men in that community.

Nathan isn't a genius or even a doctor. He's been raised by women who were taught to put themselves, and their little babies, last.

Jill is a low life whore. Only a low life whore would discuss genitals that way in mixed company. And if Nathan is a loser, letting someone talk about his wife that way proves it. He should have thrown every item of Jill's on the lawn and told her she wasn't welcome. He should have rebuked her until she cried. He's less of a man, not for failing to know the effects of childbirth on a woman's body, but for letting Jill drag Nurie down to her level.

Not to white-knight Nathan too much, but isn't he also the product of fundie homeschooling? While it seems like common sense that a woman that just gave birth needs rest and whatnot, would that be something he would have ever been taught? All fundies seem to teach their kids about giving birth is that it's the sole reason women exist, with no mention of all the potential risks and complications. While going along with treating Nurie like this is fucked up, how likely is it that he would even know that women need to rest after giving birth given his nonexistent education?

It may not be worth much, but the fact that he apparently is not allowing or encouraging Nurie to get her own social media presence going seems like a small good sign.
As far as running interference between his wife and her horrible mother, well...He's new at this. Even non-fundie boys frequently have trouble with overbearing mothers-in-law. They've only been married a little over a year, and I previously commented that it's going to take a lot of time and love for Nurie to be deprogrammed (optimistic, I know) but I think it's likely it'll take time for Nathan too, for him to fully "leave and cleave" as they say, and step up. Wishful thinking/fan fiction though it may be, I don't think it's impossible to hope that they may eventually break free and have a nice, happy little family unit away from social media and Jill.

Also, neither Nathan nor Nurie have even basic public school education. They likely have never been taught shit that for most people is basic knowledge. So that makes things even more complicated.
Fundies not allowing their kids to get a proper education is 100% a control tactic, I swear.

I actually don't know. The periods for ritual purification and confinement postpartum are in Leviticus, but that might be one of the bits of Leviticus that fundies think doesn't apply to them and don't bother with it.
Do fundies observe Candlemas? The Feast of Purification? If so, he would know that this holy day commemorates the presentation of Our Lady in the temple after she had observed the rites relating to postpartum purification. Even in comparatively recent times, women were still "churched". I was called for special blessing each time I reappeared postpartum, so the tradition still continues in some form.
The thing is, if Nathan as a fundie knows about any of that stuff, he knows the reason behind it is that the Lord commanded special treatment for women for a period after birth. The special treatment involved them staying in the fucking house, i.e. resting. And also not to get any dick. (I don't trust Nathan to have had the good sense to understand why he must leave Nurie alone for some weeks, although I am reluctant to think he would actually hurt her. But still, I'm not sure he will understand why the full six weeks is important.)
Like most early religious commandments - especially those in the Old Testament - this is a public health issue. If women were ritually unclean, they stayed home, husbands did not interfere with them, they were generally only with women and those close to them, they weren't out in the streets or working. This was to let them rest and get better. (It's not a sin issue because no sin attaches in the OT or the texts derived from it to the act of childbirth itself. It's just made clear that until after a passage of about four to eight weeks, the woman's activities are to be restricted, and the strongest prohibition that could be imposed was ritual uncleanliness.)
I know this is an autistic tangent, but well, fundies are religiously autistic.
