Don't count your chickens before they hatch. They are unlikely to be able to do anything at the federal level, but they could somehow pass the infrastructure bill, or the state Dems could bring every last bit of their capital to do... well, nothing quite as grand as 2020, but still stuff.

2020 showed they only need to do it in a few areas, and as long as no one has the political will to basically take us to the brink of civil war, they'll get away with it.

But if I had to guess, the cheating will be in 2022 to desperately try and keep things from flipping.

They have a near religious belief in static systems -- that is, they can make changes (defund the police, enact insane anti-truck regulations) but unintended consequences (crime goes up, ports get fucked) are literally not allowed. There is no one left in charge. You are seeing the entire country adrift right now, with the occasional desperate person rushing out of the cartoonish melee cloud of Uniparty / BigTech / Progressives / Clinton Sect / Obama Sect infighting in DC and grabbing the levers of power for 5 seconds before being pulled back in. And sometimes they're just yanking the levers to fuck with the other people in the brawl. But the second they stop fighting or stop flipping random levers, the entire thing comes flying apart at the seams and then they're fucked.

So. How long can this continue? Like all forms of inertia, until something unexpected gets in the way. Afghanistan certainly roughed things up. Black Friday with empty shelves will certainly hurt (expect a new lockdown before then to stop people from realizing the stores are fucked). 2022 / 2024 elections will do nicely, if nothing else. Biden getting seriously ill, Kamala going rogue, Trump announcing, a terrorist attack (Hi, ISIS-K!)...

People have already noticed stores are fucked. Boss pointed out that his family could not get sticks of butter from I think Meijer or whatever national chain. Regional chain has enough butter to put the damn stuff on sale though. Because that makes sense?

Also in my case we went from Overtime to doing maintenance on the machines because we have no orders coming in. Same with a friend of mine in a different industry. Busy then the work dried up. A delivery driver told us that he used to deliver to a shop everyday during 2020-21 then all of a sudden he hadn't delivered to them in a month.

Point is that everyone *knows* the economy is fucked and lockdowns wouldn't hide it. It would be the administration jerking into the wind to try and cover it up.

I wonder what will happen when the spending bills are finally dead-dead-dead. Will they go nuclear on each other? Will the infighting stop briefly? Will the long knives from the people they owe come for them?

You've missed one of the biggest reasons they hated him so much: Trump wasn't just "not supposed to win," they stumped for Trump during the Republican Primaries hoping to god he'd win because of a belief that he'd be the easiest candidate to beat in the generals, not realizing Trump would be able to legitimately ride a populist wave. The biggest pushers of Trump during that time? The same people who would go on to work for Hillary.
