we are overdue for a change in government. The US government is the oldest in the world. 245 years old. every other nation's governments have changed at least once in that time span. Its so old that it will collapse under its own weight when faced with a crisis. no one believes in it at all. they may believe in the nation but the federal government? lolno. this is why they have not been able to do anything. their COVID plans are not followed by most of the country. their plans for a vax mandate have stalled. the big bills in the congress cant pass.

for comparison here is the ages of the current governments of some of the world powers:
France: 1958
Germany: 1990
Russia: 1991
Canada: 1982
Mexico: 1917
Italy: 1948
China: 1982
and so on.
The only exception i can find is the UK that has been a ooze of power from the monarch to the parliament since the 1200's but even then thats constant change. Im no expert but this rule seems true enough to me.

What you say is correct. I would add that some of us believe the government did change rather drastically in 1865. Still even then that is an inordinate amount of time compared to other governments.

This is a state prosecution, note that they say the victim didn't give the voluntary go-ahead on it prior to charges being filed. What happens to the perp will be largely dependent on the victim's role in the trial. If she doesn't play star witness (either doesn't testify at all or half asses it) then the prosecution starts the trial in the handicapped bathroom, so to speak.

Since this is actually a political exhibition trial (the whole thing is disgusting from top to bottom, frankly, 3rd world america on parade) it's hard to say what will happen. Any successful guy with no prior criminal record who was charged with this same thing would - at the worst - end up getting fines/probation and have to do some kind of sex harassment program (don't worry the state makes money off these programs too). There's no way you get jailtime on this charge without priors or a serious, almost too serious to play off casually, political grudge.

I've never bought into that idea and the reason why is that it wouldn't have been so obvious were the cheating "bought" with "political capital" when 2020 went down. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is about to test whether progressive Democrats are full of hot air over their threat to nuke the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure package unless it's paired with the yet-to-be finalized social spending package - which the White House capped at $1.75 trillion earlier Thursday.

If House progressives cave and pass the infrastructure package without the already-gutted 'Build Back Better' Act, they'll give up whatever leverage they thought they had (and obviously don't) towards achieving their spending goals.

Biden, meanwhile, said on Thursday that "We badly need a vote on both of these measures," adding "I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say that the House and Senate majorities and my presidency will be determined by what happens in the next week."

According to The Hill, Pelosi insists she's "going to hold the vote open until we get a majority," which - at least as of last night, didn't seem within the realm of possibility based on Wednesday night statements by House progressive leaders.



"I’m still gonna be a ‘hell no’ [on infrastructure] unless I see both move," said Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), a member of the progressive Squad, after the meeting.

Yet, despite the above, Pelosi thinks she can convince House Democrats to give Biden a victory as he embarks on a Thursday trip to Europe where he will address the G20 and global climate summit in Glasgow.

"When the president gets off that plane we want him to have a vote of confidence from this Congress," Pelosi reportedly said according to a source from the meeting.

"In order for us to have success, we must succeed today."

"We're going to be working all through the weekend" said Jayapal, striking an optimistic note on the social spending bill, adding "We're going to get these two bills done."
