If it's anything like my last job, your managers are probably completely clueless and incompetent to make the necessary decisions on how to roll all this out. Whoever is deciding this stuff should have medical training to understand the pros and cons and risks of the various approaches and legal training to figure out how to not get their company sued.A certain 501(c)3 company I am familiar with abruptly decided today (10/2that it is a federal contractor and that all employees must be fULLy VacCiNAteD by January 1 or else be fired, in order to "be in compliance" with Brandon's edict. This includes remote workers. There will be no testing option. Remote volunteers, on the other hand, don't have to get anything. So to break down:
In person volunteers: must get shot
In person employees: must get shot
Remote employees: must get shot
Remote volunteers: no requirements
This further makes no sense because isn't the deadline for the fed contractors December 8?
And how is it that they just remembered today, all these weeks later, oh yeah, we are federal contractors, so we don't need to wait for OSHA, we HAVE to comply RIGHT NOW and you're already almost out of time?
All very suspicious.
After being denied entry to the nursing home on Saturday, I went back on Wednesday, got a different front desk lady, and said, "I've taken a Covid test that should fulfill the state requirements. Can I go visit my grandpa now?" And they were like, "Yeah, sure, whatever", "Wear this gown, mask, and face shield," but didn't ask to see my Covid test results (They'd previously told me self tests didn't count and I was prepared to argue with them), and once we were in the room they didn't care that we broke every single rule regarding on PPE, masks, and number of family members in the small space. The rules are completely inconsistent and unregulated and the people enforcing them don't understand the whys or hows.
