Hey everyone! About a month ago I posted some screenshots for my fangame.
You can see the original post here.
Since then, I've been working mostly on gameplay mechanics and also refining the player movement and stuff. In this video you can see some of those improvements, as well as Mio! She and Fubuki would be the starting characters. (Also please ignore some of the few missing things like sound effects and stuff. Still a WIP!)
Fubuki is also somewhat playable, but I haven't really made her combat animations yet so she doesn't do anything other than walking around. Her model was remade since the first post, and along with that, I made a universal character rig that can be used with her and any other future characters (Due to this, her old animations are not compatible and have to be remade). This allows me to create many different playable characters without having to remake basic animations (Movement ones like walking and the like) and can focus on making only animations that are specific to each character.
As for Mio, she doesn't use any sort of weapon other than her fists or legs, aswell as different skills that might cause AOE damage. In the clip above, you can see that her normal attacks deal mainly normal damage (represented by white numbers), but also apply a small DoT status effect that inflicts a smaller amount of fire damage. In the future, I plan on making her a sort of support/tank hybrid that specializes on giving different kinds of buffs to her teammates, while also applying debuffs on the enemies which scale with the amount of enemies in the vincinity. Fubuki would be a more straightforward DPS that focuses on mobility and crowd control.
As a side note, the map you see here isn't really the actual map I'll be using in the final game. It's only a testing map for art assets and the like. It has an area of roughly 8x8km, but most of it is completely empty. I'm still not sure how big the real map will be in the future, but once I begin conceptualizing it I'll have a rough estimate.
Hope you like it!
on why they haven't applied to work for HoloAlt:
I did consider it before, but there's two reasons why I didn't do it:
- I live in Panama (Latin America)
- My japanese skills would make Coco cringe
Dunno if they care about those two things, but for now I wanted to sharpen my game dev skills with this game. Though if they somehow contacted me then that'd be a whole other story
