High Guardian Spice - Tumblr: The CalArt Anime

What is this style called? Western cartoons attempting to copy anime but obviously western? HGS somewhere probably had a better style but redraw the faces for budget or someone somewhere said something.

Personally I don't think any of those fit the anime style (especially those Hell cartoons which seem to ape early-2000's cartoon network more than anything), but they are good artstyles and High guardian spice fits those pseudo-anime categories that try to parody anime more than anything

I'm still shocked Crunchyroll hasn't disabled/moderated the ratings/comments yet.
I honestly don't think Crunchyroll had faith in this show after the backlash, why else would they just dump the episodes with little fanfare and not build up any hype for this series.

Responding to @Kari Kamiya ;

It is called a funicular railway. The above photo is of "Angel Flight" in Los Angeles.

Ah, okay. I've seen it before (not in person), but what gets me is that it's being operated by two ogres, up and down. Isn't this supposed to be a magical world? Why would they need to have that kind of physical labor when there could be a magical funicular railway? The method of transport and technology shown in this episode is so contradictory.

I think the message they want to send is clear:

Stock png lamp post like the bread? lmao jesus christ how did I miss that, unless it's not episode 1 in which case I couldn't sit though more than 1 episode lmao.
SECOND EDIT HERE, FIRST EDIT BELOW: Holy shit I thought the scratch was just that but looking at it again it looks like a fucking watermark.

Editing my post to avoid doubleposting as I somehow forgot to reply to some shit I wanted to earlier.
Kill La Kill! did it better.
I see literally no parallels between this and kill la kill other than there being a wacky school involved. Unless the school in this was taken over by delinquent gangs funded by shadow organizations using sentient thread aliens to bring about the end of the world too? There WERE elements in the one episode I saw that were fucking biting at the back of my mind about things that seemed to be ripoffs/weird "references" to animes. One example being the whole market with the small important personal item getting stolen and the implication of being mugged in an alleyway seemed eerily like RE:zero sectoid skinwalker edition, but maybe thats just the fact I saw the first few episodes of that wiht a friend that wanted to show me it a month or so ago. There's more than just that in terms of uncanny "just alter it a bit so nobody can tell" shit going on in the thing with other animes too but this will turn into a massive rambling heap if I try and recollect all the ones I noticed.

There's also the fact the town is blatantly made to try and resemble that one specific circle town used in nearly every anime adaptation of anything, that I can point out without going into a rambling ass mess.

Gurren is the more over rated trash than Kill la Kill. FFS Frank Fucking Miller shat all over the Gurren's hot blooded schtick with his Ronin series back in the mid 80ies.
Ronin isn't a wacky post-apocalyptic roadtrip adventure series involving giant robots. Gurren's got a lot more than just "hot blooded schtick" going on about it. Closer comparison would be mad max as both take place after the world has been turned into a fucking desert by an apocalyptic event but even then mad max has a completely different vibe going on and a lot less aliens being the reason humanity's up shit creek.

Headcanon: The temporary sex-changing potion (which the professor character takes every month) may be possibly a safer and slower alternative to the permanent sex-changing spell (which does exist), as the latter is irreversible and people may want to just experiment with genders or detransition later (regret changing their sex). Temporary sex-changing spells also exist, but they wear off after a short time. Or is it just me overthinking everything?

You're overthinking it, they put that in as what they think is a wholesome wizardry solution for body dysphoria, but really will make trannies even more depressed upon being reminded it would take literal magic to become a real woman.

If I was the series' writer I would make it like this: Sex-changing spells, temporary (for shapeshifting) or permanent (for dysphoria). Temporary sex-changing spells will wear off after a short time (fitting for disguises) while permanent ones are irreversible and can only be undone by a counterspell (temporary sex-changing spells will still work normally, however).

They probably overlooked that blatant fucking plothole of magic somehow being able to do shit permanently other than sex change shit solely because they're politicsbrained and can only think in direct analogues or allecgories for political activist shit. Gotta have that be like a schedule medication to be a parallel to IRL HRT pill treatments when you're brain's been warped like that.

The leftists’ complete lack of imagination (and, thus, the persistent need to make fiction match reality) is again their downfall.

You know the cool thing about fantasy fiction? It’s fucking fictional and it’s fucking fantasy, so you can use it to explore ideas that would not be feasible in a realistic setting. Like, wouldn’t it be way more interesting to explore the implications of a society where literally anyone CAN seamlessly and perfectly change their gender with no drawbacks? How would such a society differ from our own? You can do interesting things with this idea, and additionally use it to work in commentary about the real world. In fact, I really like it when sci fi tries to explore what an actual alien reproductive/sexual structure that’s completely separate from human preconceptions would look.

But no, progtards are too stupid to understand metaphors unless they are transparent stand-ins for their real-world counterparts.

I'm glad this finally came out and is just as lazy, dull, and political as everyone thought it would be.

TTGL is a giant tribute to the mecha genre in general but in particular is a more upbeat version of the later parts of the Getter Robo manga with less body horror.

You've probably put more thought into it than the creators did.

I can't fucking take it anymore.
This show has utterly atrocious writing.

Holy shit these characters are walking stereotypes: tranny tries to groom vulnerable femboy into taking hormones

Ginger kids got actual school shooter vibes in that first clip with his reaction to the short kid making dumbass mermaid jokes the while menacing stock music plays. The reason the music is playing is blatantly to try and make it seem like the short kids like some sort of EEEVIL HOMOTRANSPHOBE when in any other piece of media a lot of the dialogue would be just funny moments embarrassing memory type stuff that wouldnt result in the other character snapping and beating the shit out of the other.
EDIT: Jesus fuck the second clip is literal tranny grooming fetish shit oh god. Nobody talks like that, and the shit he's describing is just basic shit. A lot of guys don't want to have hair all over their body it's why razors exist. Not a lot of guys want freaky large hands or the implied robbie rotten level of ass chin. Nobody talks about that shit as a gender thing save for people in scripts like this. They should have given him actual gross hands and the fuckyou level large chin if they wanted to put those lines in but he looks like a non-threatening calarts androgyny type ginger nerd kid.
