Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
For analog horror going from Local58 tier stuff to "WHOA, CREEPY DISTORTED FACE!" that's because stuff like The Walten Files and Mandela Catalogue draw more from FNAF VHS, which did a lot of that. I liked FNAF VHS for what it was but I'm not interested in seeing that over and over again as a whole subgenre of analog horror.

For example the 2spooky distorted Jesus face from Mandela Catalogue is the same thing as the Purple Guy CRIMINAL face from FNAF VHS, you can't get anymore obvious than that

Has anyone seen Nexpo's new Disturbing Things from the Internet? I saw it was 40+ minutes long and had to tap out after 3 minutes because I can't stand his way of narrating anymore.
I watched it, it was fine. I don't think it needed to be 40 minutes long and as others have mentioned before, the topics have been covered before and better by others. The Joanna Lopez picture does always give me the creeps no matter how many times I see it, though. It hits the uncanny valley really hard for me

To be fair to Mandela Catalogue, there is other parts about it that is scary conceptually while the Walten Files is just basically FNAF in terms of what is scary about it.

I said it a while back but Walten Files is literally just a blatant FNAF and Petscop ripoff. I thought it was a FNAF fan thing or something til Nexpo did his way too fucking long video on it, and when I went to check it out I found that the creator, who inserted his creepy ass into it, primarily retweets fanart of himself by what are obviously children on Twitter. I get the feeling he is less interested in making a horror series and more interested in getting the attention of teenage girls.

I was pleasantly surprised by Mandela Catalogue, while the big spooks for everyone seem to be CREEPY FACE JUMPSCARE!!! I found the overall story behind it to be very intriguing and the world the creator has built so far to be pretty disturbing.

I watched the video and it was fine, it however became cringe when Nexpo once again acts like an Internet Detective and sucks Reddit's dick for being this righteous place that is looking into things.

It's Nexpo. If he wasn't sucking reddit's dick, we'd have to start doing a deep dive into who/what killed him and is uploading to his YT.

Zoomers are the worst people who ever lived. It's just a Xeroxed black and white picture of some '80s thot in glasses and people who use words like deadass are like "OMG I shouldn't have looked before I went to bed!"

Just found thid channel - Well, I Never. He covers a range of topics: murders, accidents, injuries and oddities.

My biggest issue is how he tackles the liminal spaces part. Am I the only one who just doesn't them scary at all? Like, yeah, some of them are kinda creepy, I guess, but they're not this unholy terror like he portrays them as.
I don't think they're scary too, nor I think they're supposed to be scary. Liminality is a specific feeling on its own, the one that is arguably only humans are capable of experiencing. It's uncanny, odd, strange, weird, unnatural, irrational, thrilling, but not inherently scary.
This might be a stretch, but I think portraying it as horror is a really cheap move that bastardizes the experience itself and is sort of misleading, liminality is not fear, it's a thing on its own. Gives me similar vibes as bastardization of mental disorders through media, like those "horror" movies that portray mentally ill as a source of spooks. It's not as dangerous as stigmatizing mentally ill people, but still leaves a similar bad taste in my mouth.

Don't worry Nexpo would change his mind when le hecking savior of justice redditors tell him about that and then he'll apologize thanks to the almighty reddit to save the day.

Is it just me or was half the stuff that Nexpo featured in the newest Disturbing Things episode already featured in previous videos? I’m 100% certain that both the phone call and the tornado footage were already shown in Nexpo videos before. If not then they were featured in another YouTubers similar series. Either way, Nexpo has been really uncreative and lazy lately.

I mean he showed another 911 call and another tornado incident before so it's similar.

But Nexpo's biggest issue is that he doesn't go far enough in scares and has to always throttle Reddit's dick, and enables the internet detective shit

It's fine I guess. I liked some of the earlier episodes from the series but he doesn't cover anything interesting for the series these days.

His longer analysis vids are pretty cool though.

It seriously looked like Jesus with googly eyes, I don't know how that makes it spooky.

didn’t that one channel Mr.Nightmare delete a video before because he said the word “faggot”?

Nightmind posted a video promoting someone's cliche short horror film that is full of cliches especially those found in modern horror and stories about rock stars.

A new Mandela Catalogue video dropped:
I'm really interested in this series, specially because of the religious connections that Wendigoon showed, which originally went over my head if you believe it. Also, this one's much subtler than the previous videos, and it made me quite unconfortable, although I feel the reappereance of the devil lasted too long, the slow smirking shook me a bit.

For Halloween, Wendigoon talks about the horrors of the ocean.

EDIT: lol
