The lack of a Burger King-esque bitch fit indicates, that this is something his gin soaked brain made up on the spot.

Also: Everyone knows, that if you're a successful streamer with a 13 year beggacy, you always have to prepare the games you want to play in a marathon at the last possible second.
He knew that Silent Hill would be voted at least a week ago. So even if he actually has a connection problem with his PS3, this is again, 100% on Dave.

HAHAHAHA THEY PAID TO VOTE WHAT GAMES TO PLAY AND HE WON'T EVEN FUCKING PLAY THEM THESE MORONS GET SCAMMED EVERY SINGLE TIME
And they'll take it like always. These scams seem to cause the most distress among the diehard wheelchairs and even mods since it's just so blatant and reminds them of dad going out to get smokes 4 years ago, but once Phil casts the pignosis and tells them that only mentally ill trolls criticize him for scamming them out of the game they paid for, they'll fall in line and drool-smile at the monkey-costume man as he plays walking sims and his snorts directly into the mic subliminally sooth their subconscious.

You are 1000% correct, no more challenging retro games for The King of Retro, only a future wasteland of modern walking sims and gouty hooves failing quicktime events. Also the error code supposedly:

Could easily google an error. Also he could of course solve the problem, as "nothing I could do fixes" means he tried rebooting it once, asked someone on Twitter or in his secret discord and then acted like it was their fault when it didn't work.

Edit: It's a fucking network error. Either he's too lazy to figure out his new wifi password, won't try restarting the router, and probably hasn't tried any fixes. This is usually the most basic, fixable error he could have gotten. Even if it is a more complex solve, it is the farthest thing from "bricked" but in pigraoch that just means "requires effort". I know getting angry at PP has fallen out of fashion here, but laziness and justifying it in such an arrogant mater-of-fact way has to be one of the more infuriating character traits I've ever encountered. I'm convinced Phil is a divine instrument sent here to instruct us how not to live.

This error can pop up if PSN is down, I fired up my PS3 to check and I can access the store fine. 100% a router issue. The easiest way to tell is to do a mobile hotspot with a phone and see if the PS3 can access PSN with that. Usually a new IP can solve the problem but I think DSP has a static IP he cant change himself.

Assuming he just isn't lying to get out of playing on the ps3, he didn't try anything. Probably reset his router once and restarted his ps3. Oh well paypigs, get scammed.

I wouldn't put it past this piggy to unplug his PS3 ethernet or disconnect it from the wifi so he can get a network error code and the perfect excuse to get out of having to play a retro game.
"Maaan I really don't want to play this stupid fucking blocky, game with shitty controls all day tomorrow SNORT. SIGH I wish this goddamn thing just didn't work" stares troutfaced bathed in blue light from the screen as the music reminds him of 'the incident'..."Oh wait, TUHUHUHU maybe if I just..." Gets up, bones creak, sighing, snorting as he waddles over the nest of cords and behind his TV. Kneels down, inhaling years and years of dust accumulating since he left Connecticut. The smell brings back memories of better days with Rambo, hardbody non-horse girlfriend. Phil shakes his head, reminding himself to refill his gin bottle to drive out the memories. He finds the ethernet cord, "Tuhuhu stoopid morahn trolls, always try to make me play the dumbest shittiest, hard games like I'm some kind of dancing monkey." snorts in a load of memory dust, coughing from so much exertion, blood rushes to his head, "This is my goddamn stream, NOT THEIR'S, MINE, DSP THE KING OF HATE BABY" kat shouts for him to be quiet from the other room, a deeper urban voice laughs. The ethernet cord is removed, he stuffs it among the mess of wires belonging to consoles and other devices lost to time. He struggles to his feet, head rushing with exertion he waddles double time to fall into his creaking chinese chair before nearly blacking out. So much work deserves a gin sip, afterward he turns to look at the screen, it reads "An Error Has Occured: 80710016. You have been signed out of PSN". A shark-like grin of pure joy washes across the pale, ghoulish features as he cries out, "ACK ACK ACK".

There's a lot about this that I find suspicious.

This is curiously the only game that he hadn't downloaded prior to tonight's stream, so he didn't have to talk about this live ahead of the marathon and now doesn't have time to fix.
I can't seem to find anything online about the recent update causing problems (unless he had a modded PS3...).
As @8675ynneJeMllaCyehT309;) pointed out, this conveniently allows him to pull a fan-voted game and replace it with something that he personally wants to play (he's already doing a second run while refusing to play newer games).
This allows him to avoid what was conceivably the 'hardest', or at least clunkiest, of the games, and apparently rules out 'legacy' games forever in the future.
Also, what does it even mean that it 'bricked the online portion'? The store won't load? Dramatic, but pretty vague.

PS3 is relatively old hardware now, so this is totally possible, even without the update being the cause. But any time the stars align and seem to create an opening for Phil to do exactly what Phil wanted to do while avoiding obligations, I don't know why anyone would take what he says at face value.

EDIT: He also tweeted and provided some extra detail that really adds nothing. But note the 'ever again' claim...

That’s not what “bricking” means, Phil. I know he wants it to sound like the device is permanently inoperable so his paypigs don’t ask questions but you can’t brick “the online portion” of a device.

ive had this problem before when i put my ps3 on after a long time.

you need to disable 2 step verification on psn website. log into it, go to settings/security and disable it

I took my PS3 from the attic after it hasn't been on for like 3 or 4 years in order to see if I'll get the same issue as he did and after I had to download the latest firmware update I did. The same error. Restarting the router to get a new IP address didn't fix it but I got it fixed by plugging the PS3 to my router rather than having it on wifi. From what I've read this error either appears randomly or after you haven't turned on your PS3 after a long while (for me it was the latter) and there is not one guaranteed fix for it but none of the fixes I saw were hard to do. However, since Phil has a static IP address restarting the router won't work, but he has a Robust Mature Adult Business Class Internet right? Can't he just call his ISP and request a new IP?

The Pig was asked yesterday if he would quit streaming for $1.5 million.

He said no, taxes take a third and he needs that consistent income. Which is true, given his absolutely crippling addictions. If Philliam got $1 million tax free he would be back to begging 6 days a week within 24 months.
24 months? More like within 24 hours! He'll be on stream the very next day pointing at the tips goal and saying he needs money to buy groceries.

Condemned criminal Origins is gonna kick his ass. The game requires you to think for yourself a bit and the combats a bit wacky. I'm hoping to God he saves Hitler's house of Ashes for the end.

I don't really care about him skipping out on SH 1. He already played it and would just be double dipping plus hed literally get no where.

As for the mystery game only God knows what he choose probably another walking simulator. It'll be point and click and demand least effort as possible.

Also decided to listen in on his audio schedule nonsense - he really thinks people are gonna spend all day with him instead of going out with family or parties or church apparently for Trunk or Treat that I learned from Marlintan.

Maybe even Kat will grace the outside world with her presence.

His viewers are dentheads and freaks. A very small amount is actually going to have a normal Halloween day.

It's a never ending story with his (misused) vocabulary and gaslighting. Phil makes me feel like a champ as a non-native English speaker.

Got to try it myself.

I can't wait for his chat to tell him how to solve this problem and how he'll shoot it down. Also I am pretty sure that every time he tweets some bullshit (outside of his autism schedule), he checks KF to prepare a narrative, counter arguments and finds a reason to drink more gin.

Google the error code?! Shitheads on the internet think they know better than me. I am a kahntent creator for THIRTEEN YEARS. You think I didn't try to fix it? The Wifi motor probably burned all the chips! I don't need advice from people who never worked their ass off like I do. Go fuck yourself! Now I need a new PS3...sigh.

I can smell the sweat and grease from that picture

I still think it's comparable to gambling. In the end, true casino addicts never leave with more money than they came in with; the house always wins by design. Spending money for RNG rolls on anything - currency or sweatyman.jpgs - is exploitation all the same.
Sorry for the wall of text but it might give you a look into Phil's mentality from the view of a former gambling addict.

I don't typically share anything from my real life on this forum but I can say this is NOT true. I use to be pretty addicted to the casinos - Vegas, Biloxi, Tampa/Ft Lauderdale, and more. I've even gambled in London, Puerto Rico, Canada, the Bahamas (a lot) and more.

My biggest vegas winning weekend was about 136k. Other weekends I would take home 30 or 40k. And, of course, I'd lose weekends as well.

Overall over the course of a few years I was down about 200k.

The thing with casino gambling is you do have winning weekends. That's the difference between what Phil does and most real gamblers. There is no real winning with what he does. No chance to double or triple your money.

I make in a year about 3-4 times what Phil makes in a year (I have a great career and I own properties) so at the time I didn't feel the heat that Phil feels everytime he pulls sweaty gatcha. But I can promise you as a pretty decent gambler (or so I thought until I realized how much I had really lost) that I had some amazing winning weekends.

For my losing weekends I could always convince myself it was okay because I had an equal commission coming in the next week or revenues from the properties or if I got into trouble I had liquid assets I could sell. (Also the wrong attitude to have when gambling- Phil has adopted this method with the remergency situations. Everytime he pulls hard he has to have a random situation to beg for his losses back)

I would rationalize my losses with my previous wins or the thought that I could make it up in the future. I was already gambling with money I didn't didn't have yet...another thing that Phil is doing when he pulls.

What makes the lifestyle more addicting than the actual gambling is the way they treat you. Free flights and hotels. Free suites. Free cruises. Being treated like a king when you walk into casinos. It's more than the money. It's the lifestyle and the way they fuel your ego. This is probably what else keeps Phil pulling. To finally be close to being the best at something.

What I was more surprised with was when I talked with one of my hosts at the casino and told them that I really thought I had a gambling problem was how supportive they were. He gave me phone numbers and information and connected me with other people to help support my issue.

Anyway. My losses weren't staggering all at once. I'd have a winning 30 or 40k weekend and a losing 20 or 30k weekend or two. Always ups and downs. Never really big winning or losing streaks for me.

Because it was up and down I always felt I could chase my losses or I was evening out over time but when I finally sat down and calculated everything over the years I was actually down SOOOO much money.

I don't have "fuck you" money like Keemstar does but I do okay and my mindset was there were "acceptable losses". This was not the right mindset and I know that NOW but I was never putting myself in the poor house with what I was doing. With Phil's situation there are no acceptable losses and that is the problem.

I haven't gambled since 2019 but I can tell you gambling addiction is a real thing but there certainly ARE winners in the casino.

If there was no winning people would never come back. It's always chasing that high from that big win.

I suppose you can say there was value in the suites, flights, cruises, helicopter flights, and things like that but certainly not enough to make up for the 200k I've lost. Even to this day I still get calls and offer in the mail for free shit. It's been years since I gambled and still get them in the mail and my email.

Also for those curious, it wasn't just poker. I played a lot of craps and a lot of blackjack. Never slots or roulette which have the worst odds in the casino.

I'd just like to reiterate that, while what I consider Phil to be doing is gambling, there is no opportunity to cash out and take his money and run like you can do at the casino. He probably sees it more as "gaming" rather than gambling.

I see some of Phil's behavior and I recognize it from things I'd do - like "yeah I didn't get it that pull but definitely this next one" is the same as " I lost this trip but I'll win next time.

Edit: I keep saying winning weekends. To clarify. I worked Monday-Friday and had weekends off. I didn't gamble on the weekdays (even though I really wanted to). I would only gamble Friday afternoon/night to early Monday mornings. I never let it get in the way of my actual work but it was still an addiction. Just wanted to clarify why I used that phrase a lot. I know some people so go every day and I have met several that try to make it their full time job. I'm glad I stopped but it's been years and I still think about it all the time.

I'd say the difference here is to get to the casino it's a trip for me. For Phil to gamble all he has to do is pick up his phone. He has nothing else to occupy his time at home when he isn't streaming. Nothing to relieve the boredom which is why it will be difficult to give up. He needs help.

I'm curious if he called scopely and said he had an addiction problem would they lock his account? Would they be legally obligated to help ?

I would have said he could buy a used copy off Ebay and have it in a couple days, but even if the game was $10 he would refuse. I actually looked it up and had no idea it was a $150+ game
Or he could just emulate it for free,

classic horror games have gone up in price ever since everyone and their mother did a video aNAlySiS on why X game is the best thing since sliced bread.

I don't know why he expects outdated tech to keep working indefinitely when he doesn't take care of it
