The Eternals - marvel is trying it again this time less humor and hit music and more unnecessary love triangles

New batch of reviews are coming in. Looks like we are going rotten, girlfriends.

I think really, if they wanted to keep the momentum going, they needed to immediately name-drop the X-men. Even if they’re not gonna show up for another five years, they need that immediate promise of “something big is coming up”, like the Avengers name drop at the end of Iron Man.
I'm not so optimistic about it as you are, man. People might have been burnt out and disappointed with regards to the X-Men after Dark Phoenix and New Mutants, and the Quicksilver cameo didn't do much necessarily.

People also see Hugh Jackman as the definitive Wolverine like they see Tony Stark as the definitive live-action Iron Man, and I don't know who could fill that void to make it just as good or even better.

They would also have to somehow jumble the main X-Men characters with the Avengers as it stands, which based on the huge cast The Eternals has, is already an obstacle for Disney. I don't even think James Gunn could make it work well in a film.

Disney and Marvel will pidgeonhole themselves with the amount of content and characters they'd be utilizing. Who the fuck wants to follow all of this content?

Right now, they’re four films and three series into Phase 4, and they’re mostly just quasi-sequels that don’t seem to actually matter all that much, with no indication for what the point of this “arc” even is. If they really wanted to retain the post-Infinity War numbers, they needed to come out with a REALLY good hook to keep people interested.
They've been trying to give good hooks throughout the entirety of this Phase 4 fiasco. Everything they have released thus far is just set up for future shit.
> Wandavision ends in a wet fart, but keep your eyes out for scarlet witch in doctor strange yo!
> Falcon and the Winter Soldier is terrible all the way through, but keep your eyes out for Secret Wars and Thunderbolts yo!
> Loki is dogshit, but keep your eyes out for Kang and S2 yo!
Every new Marvel release is literally the same fucking setup shit. Just release a decent story with good new characters and maybe I and other people will give a shit again. All the new characters they have introduced thus far have been either boring as shit, in the case of Shang Chi and Marvel's Katy, or fucking retarded, like clown nigga Kang.

Whats the point of getting hyped for future shit if all the ground work theyve been doing sucks major ass. I'm convinced the only people left that are still excited for Marvel shit are just corporate drones and the most braindead type of consoomers imaginable.

The one bright spot phase 4 gave us:
Yelena-Belova-1200x720.jpg
And interestingly enough she was singled out in almost every positive review. I will only watch the episodes of Flopeye that she shows up in specifically to see if she gets revenge on Clint.

Unpopular opinion but I do not mind JLD showing up in various things to set up The Thunderbolts. She appears and trolls and sets up the hooks. She's going to Wakanda next.

You can't hook the people and get their interest with Shang-Chi, The Eternals or some otther Z-Listers most of the world doesn't know about. I also highly doubt that a Fantastic 4 movie would do the trick, as way too many people remember the Fan4stic desaster.
Shang Chi was basically a mediocre martial arts movie who could also have been marketed without the Marvel brand name tagged on it, The Eternals is your run of the mill sci-fi superhero movie which also could be marketed without the Marvel brand slapped on it.
If you want the MCU to stay successful you need to do more than crap out mediocre shit that could have been made by everybody else and his mom.
I highly doubt that Shang Chi would have been as successful as it was, without China-coof 126 and all the fuzz surrounding it, people are starved for entertainment and would literally watch everything right now and that's IMHO the sole reason why this movie was a success. The Eternals will be relased in a tighly packed relase window with many other films as alternative and I doubt they can stand their ground against them because The Interns is just not good enough for a MCU movie.

Hey I like WandaVision and Loki (haven't seen Falcon and winter soldier). Loki had a good twist ending for me.

Most of their shows have been good. It's their latest movies that suck

This will be the end of Marvel Movies. This will be the movie that is the turning point. Eternals will go down as the movie that killed the MCU.
I doubt it however I wish you were right. Too many people love the MCU to let it ever end and these people are probably going to be willing to watch whatever movie Marvel pushes out regardless of if it is good or not. At best maybe this flop will slow down the amount of movies that comes out each year.

Technically it's killable. It just has to have a couple more films like Eternals to force the die down to stick.

Like I know I've said that you can literally execute these people publically and they'll pay for it if you do it with costumes, but mediocre apathetic crap like Eternals can wear down a lot.

Issue is I know the Rat will just panic spam Spider Man and X-men in that case, and retards will watch it.

I think that if anything's going to kill the MCU, it'll be cinema attendance potentially remaining well below the pro-COVID era, and thus the entire 2000s/2010s model of Hollywood blockbuster being rendered unviable. And Marvel could still potentially continue in that scenario, they'd just have to cut their budgets from $200-300m a movie to something more like the $150m that Shang-Chi cost.

Disney are likely going to sit up and take notice if Eternals does badly at the box-office, though. They probably let the failure of Black Widow slide on the grounds that it had so many things working against it (COVID, the cost of the advertising campaign for its original 2020 release, and the Johansson lawsuit) that it never had any prayer of turning a profit, but Eternals is potentially going to be the point where they start second-guessing Feige, and maybe pull in someone to keep an eye on him like they're having Favreau do with Kathleen Kennedy.

Loki was legitimately interesting and had some the best chemistry and interactions of the MCU but... I really hated how they didn't allow it to be its own story. The cliffhanger pissed me off.

It was pretty good, until We Wuz Kangz spent most of the fucking episode being an exposition drop.

I mean, I understand there is some hardcore timey-wimey stuff, but how about you just SHOW it in the episode instead of having JJ from Good Times blah blah blah about it?

Pretty sure the only reason this movie exists is to properly introduce Celestials into the MCU (they've been namedropped a few times in the past but haven't had anything more tham cameo appearances), likely to pave way for Galactus as the main villain of Phase 4.

Why do we even need Celestials at this point? If I can't see Thanos clowning them with the Infinity Gauntlet then fuck it.

I said it before but even if the Eternals becomes the biggedt box office bomb in history it wont kill the MCU it can sour the audience on the brand as a whole but it wont kil it outright.

Take Star Wars as an example The Last Jedi soured everyone and Solo flopped then Rise of Skywalker underperformed (it earned the least of the trilogy and was outgrossed by The Joker) but then The mandalorian came along and people at this point have "forgiven" Disney and the brand continiues to exist.

The same would happen here, lets say Eternals becomes the biggest bomb ever, The Spiderman film will most likely recapture the audience, the spiderman film would need to be a huge dissapointment, something like having 3 Tom Hollands instead of Andrew and Tobey and Zendaya gearing up as Spiderwoman and saving the day will ridiculing all 3 Tom Hollands.

And even then the Dr. Strange movie could salvage the MCU by having Andrew and Tobey appear or have the X-men appear.
Some say thst people are burnt out on the xmen but the same happened with Spiderman and yet people where excited to see him "done right this time"in Civil war; so Disney can market the nu X-men as "being done right" if that flops as well then we can say the MCU is dead. And they could probably still salvage it back by bringing RDJ back or something

I don't think the "The only reason our movie bombed is bigot chuds" works even on normies anymore.

I look forward to the rotten score to continue to drop.
TBH, about a month ago it was Dune I had no interest in, while I was looking forward to Eternals.

Now the situation is reversed, and I really hope Eternals does bomb so Kumail and the dangerhairs can seethe and dilate their neo-vaginas raw.

I don't think The Eternals will kill the MCU, no matter how badly it does, but it could be the first major dent in the armor that will catch people's attention.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Captain Marvel, Thor 2, or The Ant Man movies, but they did well enough at the box office and kept most people generally entertained inbetween the bigger movies. This film might be the first one where people go "Oh...why don't I like these as much as I used to?"

So Disney put out a perfectly boring addition to the MCU and because it's being met with a resounding "Meh" they're scrambling to tag in a nonexistent hate mob? Is that the gist here?

I know apathy can be worse than hate for these kind of things, but they need to accept that normies just don't give a shit about the Eternals, that or it's general MCU burnout. I know I'm getting sick of the MCU
