Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

I would also like to point out that this failed in NJ:

I have nothing against gambling hell I have made a lot of money gambling but this slide into government endorsed aka taxable gambling on everything needs to stop.

Maybe people are not completely fucking exceptional.
New Jersey already has legal sports betting for pro sports. It's also one of the few states that has legal online poker. This ballot question would have just opened up betting on college sports. Still interesting though that a state that has historically been pretty open to legalized gambling has apparently found a line it won't cross.

The U.S. electoral system naturally works towards there being two parties. So for a third party position/campaign to be successful, it either needs to take over one of the two parties or one of the two parties needs to completely implode and the refugees coalesce in a new party.
It only works that way because of how long it has been that way it was not the design. Third parties were gaining steam until 2000 when the DNC managed to convince a lot of people that the ultimate evil Bush Jr only won because of independents not because an actual narcissist with no personality or positive traits was run against someone named Bush.

Believe it or not Bland Crumbs used to be out in public trying to get people to vote for Nader not because I necessarily believed in Nader but because I believed and still believe that a strong third-party is not only a benefit but a requirement for the US to survive though to be honest I am so blackpilled at this point I do not totally believe that party would not be instantly consumed by the uniparty.

Every victory just feels like a delay. Shit I need another beer.

So never Trumpers hold off a Trump republican nomination but Trump being the egomaniac he is forms his own party , A 2022 red wave shakes faith in current Democrat electoral policies and the party in general. Between now and 24 we pay the piper on COVID spending and the economy goes whack, which everyone blames on the current admin. Biden refuses to step down for the 2024 race and squad/squad adjacent/general dem rebels see the split Republicans as a chance to strike make their own party. 4 way election WOOOO!

For the people saying that voting in New York is pointless: if you were voting for NYC mayor, sure, but not if you were voting on ballot measures.

NY Proposal 1 (Freezing the number of state senators at 63, redistricting reform): Rejected, 47.8% to 38.9%
NY Proposal 3 (Same-day voter regisration): Rejected, 50.5% to 38.1%
NY Proposal 4 (Allowing no-excuse absentee voting): Rejected, 49.3% to 39.0%

While a fun thought, more likely, and what is currently being done is a complete usurpation of the GOP by the Trumpian Populists.

That is very very very interesting.

I voted no on the proposals. I'm glad my vote went for something. What about the other two?

So more likely never Trumpers split off in this insane hypothetical? Makes more sense the more I think about it.
Split off or just flip to Democrats, aye. Their future in the GOP is increasing irrelevance. This election was a bit of a test on how well the Trumpian populists would do in the midterms. Gangbusters was the answer.

But structurally speaking and looking at the larger picture, the DNC is not wrong in saying that voting for a third party weakens them and helps the opposition.

The first past the post electoral system in the U.S. means that whichever candidate is first to get over 50% of the vote will win. Which means that, realistically, disparate but similar groups are going to wind up joining in coalition under one of two parties in order to get any kind of chance or their issues ever being addressed, rather than campaigning on it independently.

We have calls from MSNBC, CNN, and FOX.

Unfortunately, Fox called Arizona for McAlliffe. It's over.

They were both passed
NY Proposal 2 (Constitutional amendment guaranteeing right to a “healthful environment”): Passed 61.1% to 26.9%
NY Proposal 5 (Increasing limit of monetary limit for claims filed in NYC civil courts to $50k): Passed 54% to 31%
