Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Trump’s been out of office for a years, he wasn’t on the ballot last night, and he’s not sitting in any elected office right now.

Yes, because most of modernity is situated on progressivism's sovereign territory, so everything conservative and liberal is argued from it, using its phrases, viewpoints, and accepted political expressions.

Conservative says "Gay rights are ok, but trans men in girls' washrooms are the real problem", Liberal says "You're transphobic! Also check out this NAMBLA comic."

Again, the difference is how fast each side is progressing, and Conservatives ultimately end up conserving nothing. Conservatism if it wants a chance, must break out and find another path, and articulate its own vision of the future.

Edit: In short, they cannot be 'just' Conservatives.
