I don’t know if people are giving enough consideration to the predicament Nader has found himself in here. I beg the differ here. Cat is considered very high in the rank of pet especially in Moslem country or devotees. The reason is because the prophet Muhammad had them as a pet. A lot of narrative of being a Moslem cat owner is circled around this, examples since the Prophet loved them, cat will bring prosperity and good point in after life for mimicking the Prophet’s lifestyle.

Hence country with predominantly Moslem such as Turkey and many others that I don’t need to mention treat cats with high regards. So as an Egyptian regardless he is not practicing his religion, I am sure that notion still stick.

Egyptians literally poison stray cats and dogs as population control, because it is ‘haram’ to spay/neuter. There are tons of strays around town that get kicked, hit, abused by the young and old. General belief that the animals are dirty.

Some very loving pet owners do exist but rare. A lot of guard dogs exist and the driving entry to every public building (malls, airport, hotels etc) has a security guard with a dog that will walk around your car (none of these dogs have any obvious training) the guard also makes you open your trunk to check inside. Abuse of horses and camels (especially on tourist spots) also very common- like seeing the raw bleeding skin of a camel from being hit so much while the person is trying to convince you to ride it.

As for Chantal she only cares for herself and what she wants in the moment. Everything else that requires any action from her is a burden most of the time to her - family, friends, pets etc. Whatever makes her feel good in the moment is the only thing that matters to her.

You know I’m actually pretty shocked over the cat comments. I’ve been watching Chantal for like 2 or 3 years at this point. And no matter what was going on in her life. No matter how shit a person she was. She has always been consistent about loving those cats. Back in the bibi days she was obsessed with them. Talking about how she would actually die for them. I think I remember a video she actually cried about them once. And the cats seemingly do adore her. They are so affectionate towards her. I know she has an ever shifting identity but the ONE consistent thing in all these years of her identity shifting is that she loved those damn cats. What I don't understand most about Nader wanting to live with Chantal is that he'd be forced to be around her 24/7 because, let's face it, she rarely leaves her place as it is, except to see him.

My guess: living together, with her paying the rent, will give him more of her money to spend. As it is right now, she's paying his rent on top of at least something at the current sty. One place is going to give him extra change. Yeah, he'll have to put up with Chantal but once he learns to drive, he can come and go as he pleases.

Chantal has zero say in this relationship. If he wanted to order a lyft and tell her he was spending the weekend at a friend's, there's nothing she would do to stop him. He knows now that no matter what, she'll keep going back to him. So, even if she tosses empty threats about ending his gravy train, it's just that - empty threats. Chantal is so desperate for a relationship that she will put up with anything.
