No, James still has not bothered to follow any best practices involving monetization. I had several posts detailing how he couldn't be bothered to earn millions of dollars for single digit hours of effort. This is the first post of I think 4. They're all on the same page.

If you want to see the brilliant implementation of every single "best practice," watch any video by Mr. Beast. I've been impressed by the work Jimmy put in, the production company he's built, and how he's handled success. That's not to say that I don't think his content is shit, because it is.

I saw the view counts on Mr. Beast. He must be insanely well off. Also he's smarter than Oprah with the tax thing. I'm a little taken aback this exists.

Sure, but that'd only make sense if kids and teenagers wanted to watch a table full of middle aged men going through a midlife crisis where they sing songs about 40 year old video games. I think Cinemassacre's the only channel I'm subscribed to where I consistently see soyfaces in every thumbnail. Hell, I unsubscribed from LinusTechTips because I was sick of seeing Linus's face screaming at me every morning.

He couldn't be bothered to earn hundreds of thousands dollars more a year because he's lazy. Instead of hiring help, he complained about not having enough time. Partnering with Screenwave was the laziest option possible and it's killing the AVGN/Cinemassacre brand.

Great analysis, but IMO he's just stupid. What you described is fast and easy to set up... if you know what you're doing. If you don't, then that's lots of hours and effort to research, plan and test drive before investing a lot of money into it and if it was THAT simple, half of Youtube would be millionaires. That's why I think he partnered with Guntwave: they're supplying the Internet marketing know-how that James has no clue about, because AVGN was a side project for a long time that Mike was handling the business and creative side of; James was handling the video editing part and doing his trademark goofy upside-down smile before the camera. Mike leaves and now James has no fucking clue how any of this works and NO TIME to learn - and I'm not joking here, imagine you're a drone at some assembly line where all machines are chugging along but require constant supervision and adjusting, but the mechanic responsible for that gets kidnapped by ninjas and it's your ass if something breaks.
